  • Used to be great, now it is just PTO hate primetime

Used to love this pod. Informative and entertaining. From a few months back to now has devolved into a PTO hating add. The last two episodes were essentially about how the PTO allegedly screwed a press announcement. Everyone of the latest episodes has become a contest of why Ironman is better. And the vitriol in the last two episodes is just too much. Can’t understand why a good thing turned so bad.

  • Used to love it- format has shifted though

Started listening about 18 months ago. Initially I loved it- hosts seemed chill, funny and super informative. But after listening awhile I’ve noticed a few things. Audio quality isn’t great, one host seems to regularly brag about his cycling successes and all the toys he buys- just an overall arrogance from the hosts of this show.l which gets irritating to listen to after awhile. And as of very recently, they talk HEAVILY about short course- which I imagine 95% of their listeners are not int... more

  • Best show, worst audio

I love the takes but the audio quality is the absolute worst. Put a little effort in and do some production and editing. Glad to donate $10 to get a microphone puff.

  • Protri commentary

More like commentary with a drunk uncle, rather than news. Heavily influenced by paid sponsors, but still entertaining.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 283: A New Age for Triathlon?
Q: What are the positives of the merger according to the panel?
The positives include clearer governance separation, better scheduling for short course and long course, improved branding consistency, and promises of increased prize money for short course athletes, along with a more unified sport structure under World Triathlon with the PTO/T100. Taylor Knibb also noted benefits from a longer-term, athlete-centric approach and potential for stronger sponsorship opportunities.
Episode 269: IRONMAN TEXAS PTN LIVE SHOW
Q: Who are the favorites for the men's race?
The panel converges on Christian Blumenfeld as the preeminent favorite given his form, with Matt Hanson and Patrick Lang also highlighted as strong contenders depending on race-day dynamics.
Episode 259: Taylor Knibb, Sam Long, and Magnus Ditlev Speak on 12m vs 20m
Q: Are you guys willing to accept the hard things that probably come with opening to a 20 meter draft zone?
Yes, we are ready for the challenges that it brings, and we're doing it because it makes racing harder rather than easier.
Episode 259: Taylor Knibb, Sam Long, and Magnus Ditlev Speak on 12m vs 20m
Q: Why do you think 20 meters or opening the draft zone is important for professional racing?
It's important for fair racing, and it would create more entertaining dynamics in large championships.
Episode 257: Sam Renouf the CEO of the PTO
Q: What's the impact of going split gender for racing?
There'll be unexpected outcomes, but we believe the positives will outweigh the negatives and we'll evaluate after the year.
