Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

When Expertise Meets the Algorithm
Q: What are some of the things that we are hearing and seeing that you would like to take this opportunity to say, thermography is not the right study to diagnose breast cancer, or whatever it might be, but what myths out there do we need to really make sure we're debunking?
Roth distinguishes misinformation from financially motivated disinformation and challenges claims that mammograms cause cancer. She says thermography and QT imaging can miss cancers and are not replacements for mammography, while fear-based claims can deter people from approved screening.
When Expertise Meets the Algorithm
Q: When you were in training and in residency or fellowship, did you ever imagine that your career would take you on this path?
Roth says she never expected to build a public platform. She started The Boobie Docs in 2020 after experiencing burnout, seeking a creative outlet, and becoming concerned about breast cancer misinformation online.
Survival is Not a Strategy
Q: What can individual radiologists do to help raise the tide and influence broader change?
Build willingness to collaborate, socialize gains, and push for systemic changes where radiologists maintain leadership in decision-making rather than being pushed out by other stakeholders.
Survival is Not a Strategy
Q: What would you do first if you had a wand to make radiology better, purely for fun?
They would remove cybersecurity hurdles and data silos to enable full data sharing across institutions, unlocking potential advances while acknowledging it's a long-term, complex change.
Survival is Not a Strategy
Q: How do you see AI fitting into radiology in a way that actually helps, not just excites people?
AI is not a magic fix; its value depends on how it is integrated into workflows to save time and reduce burden, with emphasis on understanding the why and practical application rather than chasing hype.
