Encouragement is not what I was looking for, but got it from this podcast as a writer starting a career at age 60. Encourage the young, by all means—they need it in the world of today. But don’t forget about all the Biblical figures in the shadows of the wilderness who were called forth by God at a late age to do His will. :)

  • Literary intelligence, finally

Chris burst into my morning walk. Finally, a Christian who opens dialogue covering writing from the perspective of a learned, Christian voice of calm. No chatty waste of words, black or white, do this do that. Since Chris is an avid reader, he’s an avid thinker, and perhaps a great example of what a Christian author and pastor sounds like WITHOUT saying “I’m a Christian” author. I don’t see any other podcast like his.

Q: What does Paul mean by encouraging people to live quietly?
Living quietly refers to a way of being in the world that emphasizes deep love for others and a focus on one's own affairs, requiring action rather than silence.
Tommy Brown — Why the Bible Calls us to a Quiet Life
Q: Why does it take a book to get us to stop and see that many are searching for a life of quietness and love?
Most people find it easy to live harried lives because there is a current in the world that leads to this chaotic lifestyle. It's difficult to notice a better way because we often focus on external achievements.
Doug Basler — Finding Novels for the New Year
Q: What are some of your recommendations for readers looking to start fiction?
Consider finding favorite authors and exploring their works, and be open to trying books recommended by others even if they aren't titles you would choose yourself.

Q: How do you see novels impacting faith overall?
Novels have the power to entertain, teach, and shape us in our faith journey.
Aaron Renn — Christianity and Culture in the Negative World
Q: What does it look like for the church to navigate its mission in this negative world?
The church must maintain its engagement with the world and find ways to reach people through a sharpened distinctiveness.
