  • Needs fact checking and scientific data

Women’s health and how it’s so overlooked and under studied is a topic I am very passionate about. So I was very excited for this podcast, but ended up disappointed by the serious lack of fact checking. I listened to three episodes and, in all three, incorrect/incomplete information was shared. Examples vary from something as simple as saying 3 liters of water is equivalent to 16 cups (it’s 12) to sharing incorrect information about sumatriptan. I know the guests are not in the scientific field ... more

  • SO appreciated!

As a woman.. this is everything. I especially relate to the cervical screening episode, and it helps tremendously knowing there’s a community of women navigating the same path.

  • Essential, well-narrated, engaging podcast

I loved this podcast, and listened to one episode after the other. Golda Arthur tells a very personal story with empathy and enough curiosity and intelligence to make it universal. In the process, she relays essential information to shed light on a cancer that often goes undetected. Highly recommended.

  • Well Said

It took my awhile to listen because of the haunting memories of my mother with this illness and having vague symptoms and the diagnosis was stage 4. It’s been 31 years since she passed and it’s good to know that there is more research and that there are woman that have survived. Thanks to you and your mom sharing your story.

  • BRCA2 Daughter

I listened to every available episode of this podcast in one sitting. I’m educated on ovarian cancer. My mother battled it for six years and eventually passed when I was in my early 20s. Before she died, she discovered the BRCA2 mutation that I’ve also found I carry.

But even so, I learned so much about the disease and treatment while listening. The science and the story are presented so clearly.

I also felt connected to the lives of the host and her mother. At the time, I was young and took t... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What is Female Athlete Triad? with rock climber Jasna Hodžić
Q: Where does your story start with this, your personal story? What was the first symptoms that started showing up with you and what did you do about them?
Her first symptom was the loss of her period, which wasn't immediately recognized as a health issue, and it led to a discovery that her hormone levels were low, followed by a bone density check that revealed osteopenia and the risk of osteoporosis.
PCOS, the brain, and what we're missing - with Elle Murata
Q: What would you say to someone who has just been diagnosed with PCOS now, or is in the position that you were in some time ago, where has done some reading and is thinking, maybe I have PCOS, but I have to get myself to a doctor?
I would say you know the most about your own body, you are the only person who knows as much about your body, and you should go with questions and advocate for yourself to get the care you need.
Cesarean births: the surgery that changes everything, with Helena Grant and Rachel Somerstein
Q: What should pregnant people ask their health care provider to go into birth with their eyes open?
Ask for transparency about the provider's cesarean rate, the facility's overall rate, who will be present during your birth, whether midwifery care is available, and inquire about training in trauma-informed and respectful care to ensure shared decision making and respect for your birth preferences.
Cesarean births: the surgery that changes everything, with Helena Grant and Rachel Somerstein
Q: What do you think is the most overlooked aspect about cesarean sections and where is that inequality felt most deeply?
The most overlooked aspect is how common cesareans are and how the option of vaginal birth after cesarean is often denied or not fully discussed, leading to a cascade of interventions and a sense of limited choice for many patients.
Knowing, and facing your cancer risk, with Michelle Zimmerman
Q: What should patients be doing to advocate for themselves regarding cancer risk?
Patients should discuss their family history with their doctors, ask about genetic testing if relevant, and inquire about lifestyle changes to reduce cancer risk.
