  • Smart info!

I am impressed with the science based level of information in the show and it is well needed. I am definitely adding this to my list of podcast to regularly follow. My only wish is that the age range for women’s health to age 60, that someone somewhere would address women’s health at age 67 and beyond. We’re still out here, we missed the whole hormone replacement due to fear of the study that came out, and still have unique womens health needs. Perhaps consider stretching your age range up a bit... more

Decoding Plastic Surgery with Dr. Troy Pittman
Q: What are the leading reasons that people come to see you in your office?
Patients seek relief from physical discomfort, body image concerns, or age-related changes; many come in for contouring or reconstruction after life events like pregnancy, and some are motivated by improving overall wellness and confidence.
Decoding Better Sleep with Dr. Jade Wu
Q: What practical steps can a midlife woman take to improve sleep?
Incorporate strength training, ensure morning light exposure, protect an hour before bed to wind down, and stabilize rise time to anchor the day; avoid overloading on sleep hygiene to the point of anxiety, and consider CBTI as a primary treatment option.
Decoding Better Sleep with Dr. Jade Wu
Q: Why is CBTI recommended over sleep medications for long-term insomnia treatment?
CBTI is safer and often more effective long-term because it changes behaviors and thoughts about sleep, typically through several sessions, and does not create dependence or tolerance like many sleep medications do.
Decoding Better Sleep with Dr. Jade Wu
Q: How do hormones like estrogen and progesterone influence sleep in midlife women?
Estrogen acts broadly in the brain affecting mood, attention, and arousal, and its fluctuations can destabilize sleep; progesterone tends to calm the system via the GABA pathway, but hormones are only part of sleep health and don't magically fix all issues, especially if sleep disorders like sleep apnea are present.
Decoding Better Sleep with Dr. Jade Wu
Q: What exactly is sleep architecture and why does it matter for sleep quality?
Sleep architecture is the structure of sleep across a night, including the balance and timing of non-REM and REM stages. A healthy pattern involves about equal portions of light non-REM sleep, enough deep sleep, and a substantial REM period later in the night, with disruptions shifting the balance and reducing restorative sleep.
