  • Smart info!

I am impressed with the science based level of information in the show and it is well needed. I am definitely adding this to my list of podcast to regularly follow. My only wish is that the age range for women’s health to age 60, that someone somewhere would address women’s health at age 67 and beyond. We’re still out here, we missed the whole hormone replacement due to fear of the study that came out, and still have unique womens health needs. Perhaps consider stretching your age range up a bit... more

The last minute was gold though. ... more

Decoding GLP-1s and Metabolism with Dr. Beverly Tchang
Q: How do we measure insulin resistance? What tests should women ask their doctors for to assess their level of insulin resistance?
Patients can ask for a fasting insulin level with a fasting glucose level to calculate HOMA-IR, which indicates the level of insulin resistance.
Decoding GLP-1s and Metabolism with Dr. Beverly Tchang
Q: What comes first, is it the insulin resistance that comes first or is it the visceral fat that gives us insulin resistance?
Currently, we don't have a good answer, but it's seen as a snowball effect where one leads to the other.
Decoding GLP-1s and Metabolism with Dr. Beverly Tchang
Q: What is the role of hormone therapy in maintaining a body composition during perimenopausal-opminopausal transition?
The research around hormone replacement therapy is always evolving, with some studies showing no significant difference in body weight change for those on hormone therapy compared to those not.

It's best to start low and go slow, be clear about what your goal is, and ensure you're aware of the product's composition before using it.
Decoding Cannabis with Dr. Staci Ann Gruber
Q: What particular aspect of cannabis drew you into looking at cannabis, other than the kind of lack of data?
I noticed a trend where patients with bipolar disorder reported that using cannabis improved their mood, both in times of mania and depression, which intrigued me to study its effects more deeply.
