  • So encouraging!

I’m so grateful for this podcast! As a mama with seven kids and a Charlotte Mason homeschooler, I appreciate Sheri’s practical take on implementing the CM lifestyle while not letting it overwhelm her. I tend to want to do it all and get overwhelmed and Sheri helps bring me back down earth. I love her books lists and her morning guide as well.

  • Encouraging

I love listening to Sheri. She feels like a kindred spirit and brings so much encouragement to my life. A homeschooling momma with experience and wisdom under her belt. She is down to earth and is clearly distinct in not following the masses in the homeschooling social media world. I perceive her as humble, confident and rooted in Christ.

68. Big Emotions, Ambleside Online, Implementing Quiet Time, & Delay Formal Academics?
Q: How do you handle big emotions in a large family so that learning doesn't suffer for the rest of the kids?
Set clear rules and boundaries, provide breaks for the highly expressive child, consider temporary separation if needed, involve a partner or co-parent for strategies, and keep attention distributed so other children can learn without disruption.
68. Big Emotions, Ambleside Online, Implementing Quiet Time, & Delay Formal Academics?
Q: How many copywork, narration, and dictations do you do per day or per week?
Copywork is daily and gradually increases with age; narrations are scheduled a couple of times per week for younger kids and more frequently for older ones, with flexibility to adapt if other activities take precedence.
68. Big Emotions, Ambleside Online, Implementing Quiet Time, & Delay Formal Academics?
Q: How do you timestamp your day and manage time to get everything done without burning out?
I start with a consistent morning routine, allocate focused one-on-one time with budding readers, then run through independent work while I monitor and assist as needed; as kids grow, routines become more efficient and some tasks are delegated to older siblings, making the day more manageable.
64. How to Build Healthy Sibling Relationships
Q: Is this a feasible plan for high school years, and how should parents decide what to pass on before the nest?
Focus on meaningful life skills (financial literacy, practical skills) alongside academics; tailor the plan to state requirements and prioritize what you want your child to know before leaving home, rather than trying to cover every subject exhaustively.
64. How to Build Healthy Sibling Relationships
Q: How do you fit in everything to be done by lunch and manage reading science and history without overloading the day?
We ensure elementary students finish independent work by lunch while high schoolers may continue later; we read aloud for 30-45 minutes, and we alternate science and history blocks rather than doing both every day, while occasionally assigning books for independent reading to lighten daily load.
