I have listened to many of your podcasts and I have tried several of your products at Paleo Valley. Everything is great. I am excited to be a part of your future endeavors and where they take us. I was diagnosed with MS several years ago. Can you think about doing an episode on this autoimmune disorder? Thank you so much.

  • Good topics, good content, positive vibes, and intention to find truth.

I wish the audio quality were better! These people need better microphones. Also, the conversations could be edited significantly. Trim it down to the helpful bits, please. Not all of us have time for an hour-long conversation when there are like two pieces of valuable information especially with audio quality like this.

Grass Fed Beef Has 3x More of This Critical Nutrient (Shocking Results) with Dr. Stephen van Vliet
Q: What practical recommendations emerge for someone seeking higher nutrient-dense beef?
Prioritize grass-fed or pasture-finished beef when possible, consider rotational grazing and pasture biodiversity, and source locally when feasible. Understand that even within grass-fed systems there is variability, so look for farms with regenerative practices and diverse pastures, and consider broader dietary patterns that reduce ultra-processed foods for maximal metabolic health benefits.
Grass Fed Beef Has 3x More of This Critical Nutrient (Shocking Results) with Dr. Stephen van Vliet
Q: How should consumers think about protein sources—whole foods vs processed protein powders?
Whole foods provide a complex matrix with bioactive compounds that can enhance metabolic responses beyond what isolated protein powders offer. While protein powders have a role as supplements, the majority of protein should come from whole foods to maximize the array of nutrients and potential signaling benefits.
Grass Fed Beef Has 3x More of This Critical Nutrient (Shocking Results) with Dr. Stephen van Vliet
Q: What is the Beef Nutrient Density Project and what are its main findings so far?
The project started by collecting rib-eye samples from hundreds of farms across different production systems, then profile their nutrient and metabolite content. It shifted from untargeted metabolomics to quantitative profiling to produce data on omega-3s, fat-soluble vitamins, and polyphenols, showing grass-fed and pasture-finished beef generally has higher omega-3s and fat-soluble vitamins, with variable but notable increases in phytonutrients depending on pasture diversity and finishing practices.
Is Sugar Addiction Dangerous? Neuroscientist Settles the Debate with Dr. Nicole Avena
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to reduce added sugar in daily life?
Start with beverages, then breakfast; use strategies to manage cravings, plan healthy alternatives, and gradually reduce dependence on sweeteners while maintaining some flexibility.
Is Sugar Addiction Dangerous? Neuroscientist Settles the Debate with Dr. Nicole Avena
Q: What are the key brain mechanisms involved in sugar addiction, particularly dopamine and receptors?
Sugar triggers dopamine release in reward circuits like the nucleus accumbens, can cause receptor and gene-expression changes, and may lead to epigenetic effects that can even be passed to offspring.
