  • Listening to the Q&A with Neal about Glycine. Makes zero mention of the list of benefits including protecting muscle and collagen, reducing osteoarthritis, blood sugar control, nervous system regulation, inflammation, oxidative stress, digestion, and amazing sleep benefits. Dismisses it as only beneficial for those with stroke or schizophrenia. Speaking of misinformed.

3324: How to Say No When Asked to Consume Food or Drink That Doesn't Align with Your Health Goals
Q: How can I politely decline or factor these instances into my lifestyle without sacrificing my health goals?
The host suggests that in most cases, you can say yes to a small portion or a couple of bites, savoring them slowly, while keeping focus on your overall plan. Share with someone to keep portions in check, and if you need to, discretely pause to greet others or divert attention to conversation to ease the moment. If a larger amount is offered, dispose of the rest in a respectful way (e.g., compost or sharing with someone) to stay aligned with your goals while still participating socially.
3316: Which Exercises are Best for Strength Training and How to Perform Full Range of Motion Reps on Effective Strength Exercises
Q: Hi, Dr. Neal. My name is Linda from Wisconsin and I have a question in the fitness genre. I recently started resistance training at the gym using the machines and I noticed that on the machines there is a diagram as to how to do a rep from start to end. And I'm wondering if that's considered a full rep. I often see people doing quick bursts where they aren't doing a full rep, for example, on a leg press. They will not fully extend their leg. They'll maybe keep the legs bent halfway and do quick bursts of maybe 10 to 20. And then they'll stop and rest and then repeat. If you could clarify, for me, what is the correct way to do a rep? Thank you.
The host acknowledges that there are many training styles and that full ROM is generally preferable when safe, but partial reps can be appropriate if pain or safety concerns exist; the emphasis is on gradual progression toward full ROM and listening to the body. The full ROM approach is linked to potentially better strength and injury prevention when done correctly.
3308: Atherosclerosis - How To Reduce Plaque in the Arteries With & Without Statins on Cardiovascular Risk Reduction
Q: What else can I do to reduce the buildup of arterial plaque?
Consider lifestyle changes such as weight loss, dietary adjustments to reduce trans fats, and increasing omega-3 and fiber intake, along with regular exercise and stress management.
3300: Are Air Fryers Good for Cooking Frozen Vegetable and What is the Best Food Preparation Methods on Smart Meal Prep Choices
Q: Is using an air fryer to cook frozen vegetables saving some nutrients or is it still best to boil in water?
Using an air fryer to cook frozen vegetables likely leads to nutrient loss, particularly antioxidants. Steaming is recommended as the best method for preserving nutrients.
3292: How Much Rest Do You Need Between Exercise Sets and Days and How to Design the Best Workout Routine
Q: How much am I hurting or shortchanging my gains by not taking the recommended 30 second rest in between sets?
Dr. Malik explains that while rest is important, experienced individuals can experiment with shorter rest periods to increase workout intensity, but beginners should follow the 2 to 3-minute guideline for optimal gains.
