  • Funny and entertaining

I stumbled upon “On the Runs” about a year ago while searching for podcasts that covered New England Running content. Eric and Erika and genuine and funny, and I’ve enjoyed continuing to listen to episodes on long drives and runs. Your most recent episode interviewing Jay, race director of Anchor Down, was just what I needed to hear to get me even more pumped the day before my first attempt at the race (which was a blast, by the way). Keep up the good work and keep the code brown stories coming.... more

  • Listening to these two friends talk sparks so much joy and happiness. Which I don't like because when I run I use anger and spite to fuel my record setting pace. It's hard to have someone as your nemesis when they make you smile and laugh while sharing interesting stories. Steer clear of this podcast if you want to win your next 5k ultra.-Chad Ultra

236 | Ironheart Jeremy Woodward | The Zipper Club
Q: What motivated you to pursue Ironman after such serious heart surgeries?
I decided to chase the Ironman as a bold personal milestone, fueled by a desire to prove to myself and others that a heart condition doesn't have to define your limits; the doctors encouraged staying active, and the dream of completing something so challenging kept me going.
232 | Chad Zimmermann - The Clydesdale "ULTRA" Runner 50K Re-crap!
Q: How did the race day logistics and pacing work with Herm's surprise appearance?
Herm showed up unannounced to pace for part of the race, which Chad welcomed as a chance to maintain pacing, stay engaged, and have experienced company during a long, demanding loop.
232 | Chad Zimmermann - The Clydesdale "ULTRA" Runner 50K Re-crap!
Q: What shoes did you wear for the 50K and how did you decide?
He evaluated several options and settled on the Salomon AeroGlide 4 Gravel for cushion and stability, preferring a hybrid approach given the non-technical but mixed terrain, and he carried multiple pairs just in case the weather changed.
232 | Chad Zimmermann - The Clydesdale "ULTRA" Runner 50K Re-crap!
Q: What 50K was it and how did you pick this race?
He chose the Dirty German 50K in Pennypack Park near Philadelphia for its runnable course, local availability, and supportive race organization, making it a practical first 50K that fit his timing with family commitments.
221 | Alaina and Chris Lotsbom | Boston Weeks 2026
Q: What is your hot take about the Boston Marathon, and how do you balance the race's heritage with media pressure?
Erika offers a hot take that the Boston Marathon is, at its core, a road race, but emphasizes that it represents far more than distance—it's about the human stories, community ownership, and the energy of race weekend, while acknowledging the intense pressures of competition and publicity.
