  • Oversaturated

This podcast used to be fun, but it feels like it’s just become another vehicle to market products the general audience doesn’t really need unfortunately. Are Registered Dietitians permitted to promote one specific product or be partial to one brand? If you have to hype sponsor content, okay, but don’t make it so over the top and over-sell, it becomes even more annoying. The bigger question is are you really helping anyone to learn anything about nutrition other than to buy packaged sports mark... more

  • Amazing advice for improving performance, but sometimes mean-spirited

I love Meghann’s advice and her sunny, welcoming attitude on the show. I took nearly 11 minutes off my marathon PR by incorporating her nutrition recommendations into my training. But Thomas can be elitist and adds very little to the show. He spent a good chunk of the most recent episode making fun of listeners who run with hydration backpacks and speculated that a listener who uses medical cannabis called in to the show high (a dumb joke that didn’t land). Running is for everyone, and we should... more

  • Love you guys but not the voicemail

Guys, you are awesome and the nutrition advice is really solid, but please consider dropping the voicemail listener questions. Many are way too long and I am not really here to listen to some girl talk about how close she is to a sub 3 marathon.

  • ok

Helpful to a point. Leans more to those in elite training. Hosts ego and insensitive to the entire audience sets in sometimes. Not everyone is seeking Boston, fyi.

  • Solid advice for performance

Lots of great performance advice here. I might add a caveat that the focus isn’t health per se as much as performance but if you know that going in it’s great for your racing qiestions

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Disordered Eating Series | Ep 1: Recovery from Eating Disorders as a Runner
Q: For someone underweight recovering from anorexia, how should pre- and post-run nutrition be adjusted?
Prioritize weight restoration as the foundation; once stable, gradually reintroduce exercise and tailor energy needs; use a treatment team approach to balance fueling for performance with recovery goals.
Disordered Eating Series | Ep 1: Recovery from Eating Disorders as a Runner
Q: Hi Bree, how do we know if we are eating not enough or too much without tracking given a history of disordered eating?
Hunger and fullness cues may be unreliable in recovery, so assess quality of life and consider alternative signs like physical symptoms and input from an ED-informed clinician; tracking can be helpful or harmful depending on the individual, and sometimes weight restoration should be the priority before reintroducing high-evolution tracking.
127 | Dehydration, Race Day Nutrition Timing, Carb Calculators and Chews vs Gels
Q: How should Becky approach carb loading without overdoing it in two days?
Becky should switch to a three-day carb load instead of two and assess daily carbohydrate intake to reach roughly 4-5 grams per kilogram of body weight, gradually increasing carbs rather than attempting an aggressive two-day load.
127 | Dehydration, Race Day Nutrition Timing, Carb Calculators and Chews vs Gels
Q: What's more beneficial on a track workout: sipping Runway Salty Carbs slowly or bolusing with AMAX Turbo Gel every 25-30 minutes?
For high-intensity, shorter workouts, sipping Runway Salty Carbs can be gentler on the GI tract, but for longer efforts, a bigger bolus of around 20-30 grams every 20-30 minutes tends to support better performance by maintaining steady glucose and energy.
126 | A DQ Blizzard Study, Berberine, Urolithin, Santa Madre RESET gels and MCT Oil
Q: I've been considering adding MCT oil to my diet and wanted to know if it's only helpful if you're also following a keto diet.
MCT oil is absorbed differently and can raise ketone production, but athletic benefits are not supported by strong evidence; it can cause GI upset, and for weight loss the benefits are not clear, so skipping it is reasonable.
