This is a podcast for Understanding Economics. I, and a guest with a background in economics sift through the issues being discussed and present them as Economists would, without all the hype and hyperbole.

WE. ARE. BACK. After a very long hiatus I am back and making podcasts again. Don't worry folks nothing bad happened. It was more like being an adult got in the way for a while. Anyway, I chose to use this come-back episode to talk about something rel... more

Great show that covers a wide range of not only relevant, but applicable economic theory for how the world works. I have an economics degree, and I appreciate Dave’s insight. I revisit old episodes pretty often for reference to different subjects. I have particularly enjoyed the episodes that accompany The Wealth of Nation’s. I’ve been reading along with those as a helpful means of stepping back and refocusing the dense information in each chapter of the book. Thank you Dave!
Dave’s show is both educational in a truly academic sense and approachable. It’s a great introduction to theoretical economics. Unfortunately it seems to have been discontinued, but I look forward to seeing more of what Yost can produce for content.
Very good content. I hope it grows.
This episode was so good that I listened to it twice. It has potential to be a mini-series. So many moral hazards! Spanning decades of the human desire to lull ourselves into a false sense of security, Dave touches on some of these scenarios. Great discussion topics!
Dave comes off as a likable, smart guy who can explain economic topics to anyone. The federal reserve episode is great for anyone looking to learn what American fiscal and monetary policy is really like. I think in a few more episodes he could really find a good groove, especially with a bit of post production to help speed things along and remove some dead air. Looking forward to more!
