This podcast taught me all about "bimbofication hypnosis" and other things that a man of my age has no business knowing... (UPDATE 7/13: In the latest episode, they described an actor as being "not corseted" but having an "internal corset." They concluded from this that the man was, therefore, "snetch." At which point the one they call Biz remarked that the musical was "not giving cubism." ...I am now convinced that these women do not know what many ordinary words mean and are creating new words... more
Iâve been listening to the pod since mid-2021. Overall the commentary has been really interesting and has made me think a lot about style and culture and the ways it evolves around it. A sharp, culture-forward show that dissects fashion, media, and internet-era subcultures with wit and rigor. Across recent episodes, it frequently tackles fashion history, design aesthetics, and how celebrity culture intersects with art, gender, and politics, all while maintaining a lively, group-based conversational energy. Notable strengths include clear interdisciplinary analysis, playful yet pointed critique, and a recurring focus on Gen Z aesthetics, streetwear, and contemporary branding. It's probably particularly appealing to listeners who enjoy stylish, intelligent takes on culture and who appreciate a balance of critique and insider industry context without abstract theorizing.
