  • Self love, please stop already!

I’ve listened to some great podcasts, but couldn’t get past the introduction of the guest speaker’s self-novel speech for her own disproportionate self-love. Good grief, what do all her self-identities have to do with fundraising?!… I really would have appreciated some balance/work/boundary tips. She’s virtue signaling and insulting those who don’t think as she does before she even began the topic. And no, these are not “stones” I’m throwing at her: they are truth that she is too self-focused.

Diana Frazier: Is Your Donor Database Actually Working for You?
Q: What is the problem with most CRM views on a donor's record?
The issue is a lack of a simple, clear demarcation of the donor's current state in the pipeline, which makes it hard to know what to do next; a mutually exclusive status that distinguishes between qualified, stewardship, and other states helps focus engagement.
Diana Frazier: What Makes Great Fundraisers Great at Year-End
Q: What are some of the characteristics that make up the best fundraisers?
The best fundraisers demonstrate curiosity, strategic thinking, good conversational skills, and follow through.
Diana Frazier: What Makes Great Fundraisers Great at Year-End
Q: If I'm a major gift officer or a mid-level officer, how do I win December?
Focus on inventorying your donors and ensuring they have the information needed for gift processing, while also staying connected to your organization's mission.
Tom Ahern: Lessons in Fundraising, Love, and the Language of Giving
Q: How important do you feel it is for a fundraiser to actually care and love the mission that they're writing about?
While you can initially fake emotional writing, ultimately a genuine connection to the cause enhances authenticity and effectiveness in advocacy.
Tom Ahern: Lessons in Fundraising, Love, and the Language of Giving
Q: What advice do you have for those young fundraisers in how to learn that craft as a good communicator to donors?
With enough training, anyone can improve their writing for fundraising by learning the formulas and engaging techniques necessary for effective donor communication.
