  • Major story

All I hear in this major story is “Major story: we’re biased to the north and west burbs because we spend significantly more time watching there.” We’ll see what you have to say about the south side programs you overlook come playoff time.

But thanks for making this podcast

  • Great Podcast

Just an awesome weekly podcast from two guys that cover Chicago area high school basketball. Nothing like it. It is deeply missed during the summer and fall.

  • Super Knowledgable

Mike and Joe are the two most knowledgable and plugged in media guys for HS basketball in the Chicago-area. They've got a great back and fourth that makes the pod fun to listen to.

My only complaint: The files sizes for episodes are way too big! Come on guys, lower that bit rate.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

No Shot Clock, Ep. 185: Listener questions
Q: What high school gym would you take aliens to for the best experience?
I'd take them to the West Frankfurt Gym for its atmosphere during a high-scoring game, hoping for a strong matchup.
No Shot Clock, Ep. 185: Listener questions
Q: What are your predictions on the loaded Hinsdale Central sectional?
It's highly competitive, and any of the six teams could win. Kenwood has a good chance, but all games could go either way depending on performance.
No Shot Clock, Ep. 160: Listener mailbag
Q: How might the return to an emphasis on neighborhood schools affect basketball with the magnet school domination?
If they do reemphasize the neighborhood schools, I think it will really help public league basketball quite a bit.
No Shot Clock, Ep. 160: Listener mailbag
Q: How will Brother Rice fare over the next month or so?
They're not going to take a huge hit, but they're going to stay in the hunt all year long.
No Shot Clock, Ep. 160: Listener mailbag
Q: Has either of your opinions changed on Benet?
I do not think Downers Grove North is substantially better, and I think both teams will be way better in two months, but oh boy, Benet has the looks of a possible preseason number one in one of the next couple of years.
