I just listened to the episode featuring Lalith Wijedoru, and it brought back memories of my late father, who was born and lived in Sri Lanka. He was a loving dad, but looking back, I believe he might have had an undiagnosed mental illness, which made parts of my childhood very challenging. As a single mother who has also experienced mental illness, I know how complex these experiences can be for both parents and children. This podcast is a powerful and important resource for anyone navigating l... more
I stumbled in this podcast and I’m so glad I did. It’s so affirming that others have lived through similar experiences to me. I nod to so much of what the interviewees are saying, having had a mother with bipolar 1. Thanks so much 🙂.
So interesting to hear everybody’s story. None are the same, but it’s not difficult to understand another’s story, have the same emotions and feel for them as we do from our own experiences. I can relate to Dr Pam welling up with emotion as it also stirred me. My experience was more isolation, but there are so many common threads we all feel. Good listening.
I can’t put in to words how thankful I am for your podcast and the hard beautiful conversations. Thank you.
It’s so valuable to hear from the children of parents who have experienced mental distress. These stories are often hard to tell, but I think it’s handled with such compassion and understanding from the presenter, which in turn frees something up in the guests. A highly recommended listen.
