The curators at the University of Oxford's Ashmolean Museum have been recording bite-sized tales of the wonderful, and sometimes unexpected, life of a museum. We can’t wait to share them with you! Museum Secrets is produced and presented by Lucie Dawkins.

In a time when it’s not possible/practical to go to museums, Museum Secrets brings the museum to you! The entertaining stories are narrative snapshots of the Ashmolean Museum - a guided tour without the walking. I find them fascinating
I really loved this first series and hope there will be more. It was so rewarding to engage with a single object for a few minutes in the company of the curator, hearing an intriguing story relating to it. I can’t wait to get back to the Ashmolean to see the objects featured in the series and to pause and look more curiously at some possible subjects for the next series - which I hope won’t be too long!
I love these short episodes which I enjoy listening on my school runs. The fact that I could see some of the artefacts online made it so much more interesting. Really want to visit the museum now and hope to hear more episodes
Fits into the unique museum niche. This is one of the very good ones. Worth the listening time. 🍁🏳️🌈🇨🇦🌸😷🎧
Enjoy light heartedly chosen, but knowledgeable and illuminating short podcasts about fascinating objects.
Great podcast! As they say, the episodes are bite size, but they've all been packed with information, and are easy to listen to. Perhaps the only thing we can be grateful to Covid for is the fact that museums and galleries across the world are presenting their treasures to us in many entertaining and accessible ways. I visited the Ashmolean over 20 years ago and loved it, but may never get back again, so this is "almost" as good.

These podcasts are whimsical and enticing. The enthusiasm and knowledge of the presenters shines through and they make me want to visit the Ashmolean very much!
When I saw that The Ashmolean Museum was going to start a podcast I was thrilled! I have been in pandemic lockdown since March and I haven’t been able to visit museums, leaving me in desperate need of a museum fix. So far, I have not been let down! It’s really fun hearing about specific pieces like Still Life of Asparagus (I know that sounds dull, but it is really beautifully explained!) or the Laocoön cast; more specifically his naughty bits. I was surprised and somewhat sadden that the episode... more
This is a wonderfully clever way to be introduced to items in the Ashmolean’s collection, with links to the images under scrutiny, educated but ‘light’ commentary, and just the right length to be diverting but not demanding. Every museum should do it!
What a great idea. I look for to the subsequent sister podcasts 100 great moments from the collection and exhibits you might miss and why they are significant
So excited. This looks very uplifting. Just when we need it.
