Hey there! I’m Murf Meyer. I’m a comedian, former heroin addict, current alcoholic, and the host of Self-Medicated: Weekly Dose—a podcast about drugs and the people who use them. This program is inspired by the Harm Reduction movement, informed by my personal experience using all sorts of drugs for damn near 30 years, and enlightened by my special guests.

Finally, a harm reduction-based perspective! Murf is a straight shooter who parses addiction with gallows humor and warmth; he naturally connects his own experience to systemic issues and the current political hellscape. Nothin like it.
A standout, tho all are not just enjoyable, but necessary 💪
It is at once radically realistic and radically hopeful. It’s informational but not condescending, patronizing, or preachy. I’m learning so much and I love the format. The Murf solo episodes are riveting, hilarious, and efficient. The Biden debate was particularly brilliant. Interview episodes add context and color, and the “show your work” episodes break down concepts and facts to enhance our understanding. AND I also laugh out loud at least once an episode. Thank you Murf. Self-Medicated is su... more
I appreciate Murph’s perspective so much. For me abstinence works, but it all depends on what recovery means for the individual. I’m not so fully indoctrinated that my mind is closed to what might work for other people. Great podcast!
I have been using harm reduction for five years with my patients. It literally saves lives!!! Murph is such a wonderful advocate for our people. 🔥🔥🔥 podcast!!!!
