  • Extraordinarily Out of Touch

I stumbled on this podcast thinking “cool, a political discussion that discusses local politics”. What I actually found is a podcast furthering one political party, with a so-called “conservative” praising liberal policies. No good arguments were made or differing points of view, just disgust at conservatives while praising liberalism.

  • Unlistenable

I’m a long time subscriber of both the newsletter and the podcast, but I’m unfollowing the podcast. The audio quality is often so poor and uneven that the listener has to ride the volume knob to hear extremely low sound to turning down suddenly loud audio. Too bad, because the content is often quite good and compelling. I waited six months, hoping the sound quality would improve, but I’ve given up. You

I’ve learned a lot since I started listening back in July of 2021 and I’m really looking forward to what their local election coverage looks like as 2022 heats up. I already know way more about local elections then I’d ever get from reading mlive or metro Detroit local news.

The audio quality and editing is kind of whack sometimes (w... more

Q: How do you get Republicans to show up, though, if Trump's not on the ballot?
People understand what's under attack and recognize the need to oppose the left's path.
MIRS Monday, September 22, 2025
Q: What do you think are the biggest challenges when it comes to bringing economic development to your communities?
We have to have the conversations to get the people there. We need to solidify and attract businesses to invest. Proper leadership is what's stopping us.
MIRS Monday, September 22, 2025
Q: What differently can be done in government to give this community that type of win?
A government to show up. When you're represented by the same party for half a century, they become lazy.
MIRS Monday, September 16, 2025
Q: Do you believe today's reports of government dysfunction in Lansing are the product of out-of-control politics?
Partly, yes; while personality clashes may play a role, the behaviors seen might also reflect trends and copycat practices from national politics.
MIRS Monday, September 16, 2025
Q: What do you think could be the long-term consequences of a government shutdown?
It rattles public confidence, leading to uncertainty in the economy, potential layoffs, and a halt to construction jobs among other services.
