  • Best Overview of the Industry You Can Find

This is a bigger picture podcast that talks trends, demand curves, and venture funding.

A lot of it is deep dives into specific companies and their story and vision for a specific device.

I’d like to hear more about how the US, European, and Asian regulatory frameworks do or do not get consideration in design and marketing. More about when, where, and how safety is considered - materials and electronics testing - give how challenging it is for consumers to get these devices repaired would be... more

  • Micromobility

GREAT podcast of the ever changing early scene of the electric bike/tiny car/last mile/sharing economy. Think of the automobile scene of the early 1900s when there were hundreds of different car manufacturers and lots of different design ideas. I only wish they’d upgrade the audio quality. Oliver the host’s audio sounds like the equivalent of low res 8 bit arcade graphics, constantly breaking into bits and burps. Add to that the fact he’s a “quick, low talker” at the end of his sentences, it DRI... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside Tensor's Truly Self-Driving Robocar (w/ Tensor COO Jewel Li)
Q: Do you think regulators are ready for a car without a steering wheel, or for a folding steering wheel as a safe precursor to fully autonomous operation?
Regulators generally appreciate approaches that preserve human oversight, such as a folding steering wheel, which provides a safe handover path in emergencies and aligns with risk management and retrofit constraints, rather than a vehicle with no steering wheel at all.
Inside Tensor's Truly Self-Driving Robocar (w/ Tensor COO Jewel Li)
Q: So, what does the building process look like inside, and what has changed dramatically since 2017?
The early days involved a lean setup with a house in Saratoga and limited sensors, evolving into a fully integrated, sensor-rich platform designed for volume production, with a clear shift from retrofit to ground-up design and a focus on safety redundancy and product-ready hardware.
Inside DoorDash's Adorable 20mph Delivery Robot (w/ DoorDash VP of Autonomy Ashu Rege)
Q: Why do you think DoorDash will succeed in this space where other companies have not necessarily seen the PMF or the benefits of doing a delivery robot like this?
DoorDash's extensive experience with 8 million deliveries a day gives it unique insights into the market needs, allowing for targeted development of delivery solutions like DOT.
Inside DoorDash's Adorable 20mph Delivery Robot (w/ DoorDash VP of Autonomy Ashu Rege)
Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about what DOT is and what you see DOT doing in the real world?
DOT is a fully autonomous delivery robot designed to navigate various terrains including bike lanes and sidewalks, handling deliveries efficiently.
Inside The Biggest Robotaxi Deal To Date (w/ Nuro COO Andrew Chapin)
Q: Can you just sort of run us through, you know, high level what it involves?
The partnership involves Nuro providing the autonomy stack, Uber managing the marketplace, and Lucid supplying the vehicles, with a commitment to deploy 20,000 robotaxis over the next six years.
