  • Expert Advice From Someone Who Gets It

Amy has a simple way of explaining complex topics to her listeners so that you feel informed and included. She never “dumbs things down” and uses real science to back up what she and her guests discuss. I love that the strategies are actually REAL and not all theory. I love this podcast and appreciate Amy’s point of view so much! BTW- her books are great too.

  • Wildly Valuable Show

I've been following Amy for quite a while after she wrote her book, which is great. Her candor and transparency are refreshing in a world full of confusion and placating. This show, along with her "13 things" have been transformational for me and is something I often reference in my business, family, and podcast. Thanks for all you do, Amy. Can't wait to see what's next.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

335 — "I Know Better — So Why Do I Keep Doing It?" Here's the Loop You're Actually Stuck In With Dr. Elisha Goldstein
Q: How would you define emotional health?
Emotional health is the capacity to meet a moment without regressing into unhealthy patterns, to communicate how you feel, and to maintain connection with yourself and others even under stress.
325 — Harvard Psychiatrist: The #1 Mistake People Make When They Try to Work on Themselves with Dr. Paul Conti
Q: Why should we start by looking at what's going right?
Starting with what's going right provides a foundation for understanding ourselves and solving problems; it prevents the tendency to fixate only on deficits and helps empower people to engage with their mental health more constructively.
325 — Harvard Psychiatrist: The #1 Mistake People Make When They Try to Work on Themselves with Dr. Paul Conti
Q: What are the three drives that shape our mental health?
Dr. Conti explains the traditional two drives—assertion and seeking pleasure—and introduces the third drive, the generative drive, which motivates us to create, connect, and contribute beyond ourselves. This generative drive helps balance the other drives and underpins long-term well-being.
327 — Why You Can't Make Up Your Mind (and How to Finally Decide) with Bestselling Author Simone Stolzoff
Q: Can you talk about that when you're trying to make a decision?
Simone explains several decision heuristics: use the only option test to see if you'd be happy with either option as the only choice, recognize that hard decisions are hard because each option has pros and cons in different areas, and then commit to the choice while rationalizing its validity afterward.
323 — Always Bracing for the Worst? Here's Why Becoming a Realistic Optimist Is Better for Your Health with Dr. Deepika Chopra
Q: What is the TADA list and how does it help
The TADA list is a practical tool that shifts focus to small, doable reflections of what you accomplished each day, helping build self-efficacy and optimism.
