Reviews

4.9 out of 5 stars from 10 ratings
  • Helpful free resource

Love the mission. Nice review with helpful explanations of answer options. The ad lib style of the hematology 1-3 episode is very distracting and hard to follow the case, question, and answer choices, however. I prefer the straightforward questions to mimic test taking

Hem-Onc 4-6
Q: Question 3: A patient develops fever a few hours after transfusion with normal hemolytic parameters; what explains the fever?
Release of cytokines from the transfused blood leads to fever without hemolysis, constituting an acute febrile non-hemolytic transfusion reaction.
Hem-Onc 4-6
Q: Question 2: In hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (Osler-Weber-Rendu), which feature is most characteristic and typically present with mucocutaneous telangiectasias and epistaxis?
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations are a key associated vascular abnormality in HHT and contribute to the clinical spectrum including epistaxis and GI bleeding.
Hem-Onc 4-6
Q: Question 1: Which of the following is the next best step in management of a patient with acute hemolytic episode due to a new medication in a G6PD deficient individual?
The correct action is to discontinue the new medication (the triggering agent) rather than initiating transfusion or imaging, as removal of the oxidative trigger resolves the hemolysis.
Gastrointestinal 16-18
Q: Question 3 discusses long-standing ulcerative colitis and colorectal cancer surveillance; what is the recommended surveillance interval?
Colonoscopy now and every 1-3 years thereafter, given increased colorectal cancer risk in ulcerative colitis.
