I used to like both of these guys. But Holmes selling his soul to Portnoy absolutely killed The Score for me. Spiegel is a puppet. No thoughts of his own.

  • Can’t do it anymore…

The transition from the originals to the “new” talent has been IMO unsuccessful… Holmes w/ Jason was what many of us had been waiting for … and it just did not get done … the mid-day and afternoon pairings are too oatmeal / the same voice / same opinions there is no “rub” … nice and safe is what it has felt like for too long … I’m out

  • Review of Audacy’s upload practice

Let me start by saying Spegiel and Holmes get a 5 star review from me as a show. Subscribe and listen because Laurence is the level headed voice of Chicago sports to me. Matt is pretty ok too.

My problem and the reason for my 3 star review is with the way Audacy takes 1 show which lasts 4 hours with commercials on the radio(about 2.5 hours of content) and uploads it multiple times in multiple different lengths. It throws off my “Up Next” queue. You get the (full show) upload, EACH of the 4 ind... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dan Wiederer shares the latest on Bears training camp
Q: How do the Bears plan to address the left tackle spot and what are the biggest concerns heading into the season?
The guest outlines the priority of finding a dependable left tackle who can protect the quarterback and hold up against elite pass rush, noting that rotation and flexibility in the line may be necessary, with emphasis on players like Braxton Jones and the coaching staff's design.
Dan Wiederer shares the latest on Bears training camp
Q: What is the latest on Kyler Gordon and how the team plans to handle his absence or limited play?
Wiederer explains that Gordon is central to the defense and that the team must consider contingency plans if he can't contribute consistently, emphasizing that depth and rotation are important while they monitor his progress and return to full practice.
Nicole Auerbach explains how players in NFL camps could return to college
Q: Can you compare and contrast the pros and cons to staying in school versus making that jump, especially when you have already made the jump and you are on an NFL roster?
Staying in school may offer longer playing time, potential continued NIL opportunities, and a chance to improve draft stock or earnings through another year, but risks include roster instability, possible changes in coaching or program strategy, and continued uncertainty around eligibility rules. Leaving for the NFL can provide immediate pro exposure and salary, but may come with a higher risk of not securing a stable roster spot and reduced long-term earning potential if NFL prospects don't materialize.
Nicole Auerbach explains how players in NFL camps could return to college
Q: Why does a player want to keep going back versus staying on an NFL roster?
Because many players believe they can maximize earnings or playing time by returning to college, especially when transfers and NIL deals create new opportunities, while some see potential pro prospects as uncertain and prefer the stability of college rosters and the chance to improve their draft stock. The decision is also influenced by injuries, timing with combines or drafts, and the evolving landscape of eligibility rules that could extend their playing career in college.

Q: George, what feedback have you heard from Roger Goodell or the league on the idea of the Bears moving to Indiana? And are they fully on board with it?
The hosts summarize that the league is cautiously evolving toward comfort with the idea, but there are ongoing concerns; in the meantime, George emphasizes his leverage and the possibility that Indiana becomes the chosen path if Illinois terms aren't acceptable.
