  • Love them

Love your podcasts don’t ever change them. They are shortish, sweet and you don’t rabble on. Other people when you listen to their podcasts and your trying to learning difficult subjects and how to overcome issue, when they digress it can be hard to focus and stick to the actual point! Yours are so easy to following but somehow speak to me like we are actually in therapy and you my issues. Thanks so much xxx

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

188. Real-life coaching: Taking back a cheating partner & dealing with boyfriend's jealousy
Q: I'm a girl who is friends with a guy (J) with whom I have a sexual history. My current boyfriend wants me to stop being friends with him, but I'm unsure how to balance boundaries with truth and my own authenticity. What should I consider?
Recognize that both you and your partner can hold different, valid beliefs about boundaries; it's important to assess your own values and whether changing behavior to appease him serves you, while also acknowledging that you can't control his insecurities and you're not responsible for his feelings.
188. Real-life coaching: Taking back a cheating partner & dealing with boyfriend's jealousy
Q: I suspect my partner of being avoidant. I'm 100% anxious. Do you think there is a chance of him changing?
There hasn't been real accountability or evidence he's committing to self-work, so it's worth examining your own reasons for giving him another chance and deciding if staying aligns with your values, while identifying fears and beliefs that keep you stuck.
185. Real-life coaching: Red flag vs anxiety issue & friendship trio jealousy
Q: I'm in a friendship trio where I used to be very close to one friend, but now my other friend is closer to them. How can I cope with feeling like a third wheel?
Challenge the assumption that one friend's closeness to the other means you are less valued; ask what evidence supports or contradicts this belief, recognize that your brain may exaggerate relative closeness, and remind yourself that you cannot control others' friendships, only your reaction to them. Build self-worth by focusing on your own value as a friend and seeking reassurance from within rather than from the dynamics of the group.
185. Real-life coaching: Red flag vs anxiety issue & friendship trio jealousy
Q: Now, the main part of the question from this listener is, how do I know which part is my anxious attachment and which bit is me? Where is the line between my needs and what my anxious attachment wants?
Focus on separating neutral facts from your interpretations, then decide how you want to think about behaviors from a calm, secure place. Reflect on your deepest fears and the meanings you assign to them, but avoid treating anxious thoughts as the ultimate truth about the relationship. This helps you differentiate between genuine concerns and (anxious) distorted interpretations.
180. Real-life coaching: Old friendships, saying 'I love you', & texting etiquette
Q: How do I change my thinking when my partner messages less and texts less sweet stuff, especially given his busy offshore schedule?
The guidance is to examine and slow down the automatic judgments, recognize a 'manual' for texting as a personal expectation rather than a universal rule, and explore other ways your partner shows care; you can ask for what you want, understand their different communication style, and choose thoughts that keep you grounded rather than spiraling into insecurity.
