From Two Phones to Crystal Balls — A CISO's Unfiltered Take on AI and Security with Josh Scott, CISO and VP of Security at Hydrolix
Q: What is a CISO, and what are the biggest struggles you face today?
A CISO is primarily here to enable the business to operate safely, translating risk into business decisions, with challenges including threat actors, basic hygiene, data sprawl, and balancing security with user productivity.
The Data You Never Collected: Adam Kamor Co-Founder & Head of Engineering, Tonic.ai, on Synthetic Data's AI Revolution
Q: Give me your definition of synthetic data and how you define it for your products.
There are two practical definitions we use. One is: we study real data to understand its relationships, then generate new data that preserves those relationships while discarding any link to the original records. The second is: we take identifiable pieces of real data, synthesize those sensitive parts, and produce data that is structurally identical in meaning but with no user-identifiable information, enabling high-quality data for model training while staying compliant.
The Hidden Laws Behind Every Decision You Make — with Princeton's Tom Griffiths and his new book, The Laws of Thought
Q: So using your definition of AGI, where do you think we are?
Griffiths asserts that human minds and AI operate under different constraints and should be viewed as distinct forms of intelligence, rather than one being better than the other.
The Hidden Laws Behind Every Decision You Make — with Princeton's Tom Griffiths and his new book, The Laws of Thought
Q: What do you want people to take away from this book?
Griffiths aims for readers to have an improved context of modern AI ideas and understand the historical foundations behind them, as well as the ongoing complexities of how human minds might work.

Q: Have you always been interested in this field? What did you start off when you were young?
Tom Griffiths mentions his strong interest in math and computer science from a young age, shaped further by an illness that restricted him, allowing him to explore programming and cognitive science deeply.
