I’ve been listening along with my rewatch of Mad Men now that it’s on HBO Max, and I’m hoping they come back and update soon!! Such a great and easy podcast to listen to.
Started this podcast this month on my 3rd rewatch of Mad Men and it has quickly become my favorite podcast. The hosts are extremely insightful & don’t give off the pretentious attitude other rewatch podcasts sometimes give. I love that they review each episode with a wide lens theme and then weave in the details scene by scene. Every now and then they go off on a tangent but they’re usually funny and not too long. My only disappointment was realizing they have only gotten to season 5 since 2022.... more
Wanted to like this more. I really appreciate hearing the research and deep analysis as I rewatch the show, but I'm too put off by the podcast's main host. He talks over his co-hosts and obnoxiously dismisses their analyses if they don't align with his own. It seemed like the dynamic was improving for Season 2 episodes, but it's becoming unlistenable again - he's just too smug.
I've been bingeing this pod during my fourth-ever Mad Men rewatch (when it aired, 2018, 2021, and now).Largely I really like this pod - I find it insightful, interesting, and aspirational, which I appreciate. I'm grateful for their effort to cover the literature, art, and history in the show, and to review each episode as a short story guided by specific themes. They unlock thematic patterns that I never took time to notice, and I always love it when someone makes me see something familiar in a ... more

A thoughtful, pop culture–savvy deep dive into a classic TV series, with a three-host format that blends episode-by-episode recap, overarching themes like gender and the patriarchy, and broad cultural context. Across episodes, listeners get discussions that balance episode specifics with larger conversations about era, advertising, and craft, often anchored by strong storytelling and running jokes that keep the analysis engaging. Noteworthy is the trio's dynamic, which blends sharp takes, humor, and a shared curiosity about gender dynamics, making it appealing for fans who want both analysis and entertainment beyond standard recap shows.
