  • Ride-the-fence Bream

Speaking on Shannon’s national/political commentary; she nearly never takes a stance on any important issue. Her approach is cringe in that she believes every side of any given issue makes a great point and it’s just such a hard choice to make between the two. Gross. Problem with this sensitive take is; her biblical worldview does not lin... more

  • Great Commentary

I really appreciate how Shannon is able to talk politics yet is grounded in the Word. I recently heard her speak at a women’s conference & she was humble about sharing her testimony.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Protecting Religious Freedoms Around The World
Q: What about the H-1B visa argument and the need for skilled workers—how do you respond to party members who support it?
He argues that while skilled labor is important, the system can undervalue American workers, with examples like Microsoft replacing American workers with H-1B visa holders; he advocates prioritizing American workers and ensuring domestic education aligns with job needs.
Protecting Religious Freedoms Around The World
Q: Can you speak to what part of that equation that plays as well?
He explains that while there are other Muslim minorities suffering, the push is to ensure Christian communities are protected, with policy measures like economic and security aid conditioned on progress; his stance is that security and humanitarian concerns are intertwined, and that accountability is essential.
The Miracle Boys: A Defiant Legacy of Hope and Escape from Auschwitz
Q: What do these survivors teach us about living with truth in a world where narratives can be contested or denied?
Schiff and Calvin argue that bearing witness preserves memory against denial, emphasizing honesty, authenticity, and the responsibility to educate future generations about the survivors' experiences and their broader lessons for humanity.
The Miracle Boys: A Defiant Legacy of Hope and Escape from Auschwitz
Q: Mike, how do you begin unpacking and digging through these survivor stories and the facts while assembling the book?
Calvin explains that it is a flesh-and-blood process requiring empathy to understand the depth of humanity; he and Naftali Schiff spent years interviewing survivors and chasing down critical moments to present a truthful, humanized narrative rather than sensationalizing the events.
Point Of Grace: Finding Joy & Wisdom in Proverbs
Q: Leigh, talk to us about that because Shelley touched on this.
Leigh explains how life experiences and biblical wisdom shaped the music, emphasizing that Proverbs themes guide their writing and that personal growth helps them sing with more conviction.
