There have been a few episodes where Dana has brought on more moderate or liberal guests, but it has been a while. Just tried to get a good listen for opinions on both sides, which I can usually do within a few episodes here but I came up with a one sided view this time. Dana, where are your liberal smart friends? A key point of rhetoric is responding to opposing arguments. I have seen you handle discussions with both parties in the past and would love to see it again, but for now I will be look... more

  • One of my must listens

Lives up to smart people in the know discussing current events. My one humongous gripe. It’s the ACA, not the other world. Please adjust accordingly. Unaffordable care act is acceptable since even Democrats have sold the subsidies as a means for making it more affordable.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Purple State: The Rom-Com-Dram
Q: Tell me a little bit about how you express yourself through writing and utilizing a different part of your brain.
I enjoy writing news leads, imagining teases, and creating scripts; writing comedy sketches and exploring screenplay ideas is my biggest passion and most rewarding part of the job.
Purple State: The Rom-Com-Dram
Q: Are you willing to talk about that?
Yes, I'd love to discuss writing and how it relates to the book and my own creative process.
Hot Dogs And High Stakes
Q: How does economic policy, like energy and gas prices, resonate with everyday voters?
The discussion emphasizes that voters care about tangible costs and energy security, with Salena noting that while policy debates rage, people measure impact through their wallets and daily experiences, such as driving costs and local industry health.
Hot Dogs And High Stakes
Q: What does all this redistricting mean for voters and the balance of power?
Salena explains that the legal and political fights over district maps are shaping who runs in pivotal races, with potential consequences for control of the House and the Senate, but also notes that real-world representation and community connections often feel misaligned with dramatic redrawings.
The Socialist Utopia Is Crumbling
Q: How would you recommend that politicians and policymakers look at the affordability issue from your point of view?
Address affordability by focusing on policy that supports business growth, limits overreach, and ensures practical tax structures and government efficiency rather than broad, punitive measures or handouts. Emphasize real reforms that incentivize job creation, training, and safer communities.
