  • Misleading shills

Some episodes were fine, but most I’d start and end up skipping past. I was in the car so I couldn’t skip the newest one with Anna Runkle easily so I listened to it and she talked about a secret method that worked better than therapy for C-PTSD and after like an hour of blathering there was no method described. I looked her up and her website immediately gave me shill vibes. It was all testimonials and no mention of the actual methodology. I googled “anna runkle daily practice” to try to find t... more

You’re More Resilient Than You Realize with Dr. Sherry Hamby
Q: How do you define resilience and what does it mean to reclaim it?
Resilience is a journey with multiple dimensions; reclaiming it means recognizing that overcoming trauma benefits from diverse assets and social support, not just individual toughness.
You’re More Resilient Than You Realize with Dr. Sherry Hamby
Q: What is the biggest misconception about recovering from trauma?
The misconception is that recovery is about doing it alone, relying on toughness or grit, which ignores the community, support systems, and multiple assets that help people heal.
Why Telling the Truth Is Harder (and More Important) Than Ever with Christian B. Miller
Q: We talk about it with politicians. We're just swimming in dishonesty, and that makes us feel sometimes like everyone's dishonest. When we see the news, you just start feeling like, well, everybody's lying, nobody's telling the truth. So why does honesty still matter?
Miller argues that although perception matters, most people are not inherently dishonest; they are influenced by situational factors. Honesty matters because it underpins trust, genuine relationships, and social cooperation. Societal honesty reduces fear and promotes healthier, more flourishing communities, while private honesty supports authentic connections and personal well-being.
Why Telling the Truth Is Harder (and More Important) Than Ever with Christian B. Miller
Q: So can we dive in to just a little bit the idea of those motivations and how do we do that self-examination to know what our motivations are?
Miller explains that motivation to tell the truth can be categorized into self-interested, selfless/altruistic, and impersonal/moral-motivated drives. He cautions that self-interested motives undermine virtuous honesty, while the other two categories can support honesty as long as the motivation isn't self-centered; people often misidentify their motives and may rationalize after the fact, but careful reflection and awareness can improve alignment with virtuous honesty.
The Power of Playful Parenting With Kira Willey
Q: What is your hope for what this book accomplishes for families?
To show that parenting doesn't have to be hard; by weaving simple, playful activities into daily routines, families can feel calmer, happier, more connected, and better regulated without needing extra time or training.
