  • Still A General

The Live Free and Ham crew are great! You never know what the hosts Eric, Paul and Todd are going to bring to the latest episode. You might hear about their latest POTA activation or find out where you can catch The Grouch doing a parachute šŸŖ‚ mobile. I highly recommend checking out the podcast and their YouTube channel, including Eric and Paul’s personal YouTube pages for some great reviews and other Ham and non ham antics.

Talking Points

Q: What determines the best height for a dipole and how does it affect the radiation pattern?
Height affects the elevation angle and the distribution of current along the wire; as you raise the antenna, the main lobe tends to rise and spread differently, changing the take-off angle and the perceived directionality. Real-world results also depend on ground effects and surrounding objects.

Member benefits are evolving; initial offerings focus on advocacy, access to resources, newsletters, events, and potential future add-ons like a member social platform and license renewal notifications, with a strong emphasis on engagement rather than traditional perks.
No Winlink, No Grouch, No Problem: The Show Must Ham On
Q: What is the National Amateur Radio Alliance and its purpose?
NARA is a nonprofit, member-driven alliance created to support amateur radio operators and clubs on a national level, with initiatives like advocacy, outreach, resources for clubs, and regional representation to empower members and foster collaboration.
