HEY! Short review: What a load of crap.

Longer review: Know that this podcast is only for women, with Dr Mike giving GENIUS insight (sarcasm here) to sum up Dr. Crystal’s info, for example saying,”Yes! Oxygen must go around,” after talking about anemia. Also humble bragging that HE only needs zinc or iron from his multi-vitamin, and HE can’t stand “too woodsy” green tea (great endorsement Mikie, way to minimize and/or just negate what your colleague is recommending). All the studies cited, from... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

346. Is Your Running Form Healthy or Hurting? - Life Extension
Q: How do you summarize the five or six key running form balance points for listeners?
The core balance points are forward trunk inclination, a supple landing with a bent knee, vertically aligned hips over the ankle at mid stance, active core and coordinated counter-rotation of pelvis and upper body, and hands kept near the chest while allowing natural arm flow to accompany the torso movement.
345: Kidneys & Nutrition: Expert Tips for Better Health - Life Extension
Q: How should a patient approach protein and energy needs when kidney function is compromised?
Protein should be tailored to the stage and individual losses, with a focus on feeding the body without overloading the kidneys, using plant-based proteins when appropriate, and timing protein intake around exercise to maximize muscle preservation.
345: Kidneys & Nutrition: Expert Tips for Better Health - Life Extension
Q: Lauren, what are the main nutritional concerns for someone with kidney disease, especially in more advanced stages?
The core concerns are controlling blood pressure and blood sugar as root causes, adopting a lower-salt diet with careful hydration, and then managing minerals like potassium and phosphorus while right-sizing protein intake based on stage and urine protein loss.
343. Can This Nutrient Help Alzheimer's? - Life Extension
Q: What were the main safety and adherence findings?
Adherence was high (average over 90%), adverse events were mild and limited, and safety markers were generally favorable, though there was a small creatinine rise expected with higher creatine intake; overall, the intervention appeared safe in this small cohort.
343. Can This Nutrient Help Alzheimer's? - Life Extension
Q: What exactly was the study design and who were the participants?
A single-arm feasibility pilot enrolled 20 participants with early-stage Alzheimer's, all received 20 g/day of creatine for eight weeks, with assessments including MRI-based brain creatine measures and a full NIH Toolbox cognitive battery; the lack of a placebo group means results are exploratory.
