October Technique Talk
Q: When do I know to shoot during a scramble?
Shoot whenever you have broken the opponent's line and your own line remains active; use the lower chest/solar plexus cue to initiate changes in level, but always ensure your feet are under you and your stance can drive the shot at an angle.
Technique Talk featuring Mark Schultz
Q: What would you say to someone stuck in the closed guard wanting a consistent pass?
Use the elbows to jam the legs, maintain hip control on the ground, and execute pressure-based passes like the hip pin pass to pop the guard open, then progress to a knee-cut or other standard passes.
Technique Talk featuring Mark Schultz
Q: Any moves or tips on front headlock offense?
Keep the arm from getting stuck by not letting it go in too deep; keep the head on top; use a tight C-clamp and a controlled entry to behind the opponent, then finish with a drive and a roll to pin or control.
