  • Warm, Tender, escapism

I am so glad I found this podcast. I have only listened to the Clover Stroud one so far and teared up multiple times. As a mother to an 18 month old daughter, Clover's description of the love you feel for your children resonated with me so much. A great podcast to make you reflect on your relationship with your own mother and your children, and pure warmth. I have been trying to consume more positive media with everything going on in this scary world at the moment - this is definitely it.

Two Cultures. One Truth: Gurinder Chadha on Identity, Belonging & Owning Your Story
Q: What's the most important lesson you've learned from your mum?
Living life without ego and following the tenets of Sikhism—empathy, humility, service to the community—have guided me to create with compassion and purpose.
Two Cultures. One Truth: Gurinder Chadha on Identity, Belonging & Owning Your Story
Q: So did your mum give you the freedom? Did she support you and your ambition and your drive?
No one gave me the freedom. I snatched it with both hands, but I also learned to honor them as I forged my own path in storytelling.
Two Cultures. One Truth: Gurinder Chadha on Identity, Belonging & Owning Your Story
Q: And I wanted to ask that, so the relationship between Jess and her mum, that's quite a strong storyline throughout it. Were you getting that from your own experience with your mum?
Absolutely. I write what I know; my mum's priorities were traditional, yet she supported my ambition and the idea of women's independence, which informed Bend It Like Beckham's balance of tradition and self-determination.
Tilly Rose: My Mother’s Relentless Quest to Save my Life
Q: Tilly, for our listeners, can you just take us back to where this began and how your illness started?
Tilly recounts her childhood, explaining that she became ill at the age of 10 with pneumonia, and over the next 13 years, developed repeated pneumonias and was deemed a medical mystery, leading to various hospital admissions.
Julia Samuel: How a Therapist Deals with a Complex Maternal Relationship
Q: So do you think the relationship with our mothers becomes, in a way, the blueprint of how we relate to others in life?
Julia suggests that our attachment styles are influenced by our parents but also shaped by our siblings and the broader environment we grow up in, making it a complex interaction.
