I just discovered this podcast. I’m an adult learner of piano. These break things down in such a congruent and stepwise manner all starting from the very basics of the major and minor scales. I’ve struggled with improvising for so long but your explanation of what notes and scales work together are a treasure. I haven’t heard anyone break things down so concisely. I’m only on podcast 9 but going to go through again to start writing down these concepts. THANK YOU PAUL!
I’m a guitarist who owns a piano. Listening to the podcast whilst driving then getting home and playing on the guitar. I’m enjoying the pace of the lessons and the style. A lot of the material I thought I knew having taught myself much of it over the years, but there are gems in each lesson- tips, perspectives, key points and theory. I like the backing tracks. Only up to the Tritone substitution lesson ( which I enjoyed) and will see it through to the end. Much better than any you tube lesson I’... more
Paul is a patient, generous, and expert instructor. Im so grateful for this podcast, which I return to again and again!
I have been playing piano for a year and I have always wanted to play jazz and this helps a lot
This guy rocks
Great content. It's exactly what I was looking for.
I'm so happy that 10 years plus on, pauls podcast is still available! Not sure if he is still with us, but enjoy his podcast immensely. A wonderful teacher! This is a fantastic resource, hopefully it will be available for a long time to come.
I have recently discovered the Jazz Piano Podcasts that are taught by Paul Abrahams. They are insightful and easy to follow but discuss complicated topics. They are presented in a way that makes you want to reproduce the sounds that Paul talks you through.
I am currently on Episode 9 and have just listened to the "Recommended Listening" podcast and have discovered some new musicians and performers that I would like to listen to further.

Love this Podcast to death...
I've been poking through a lot of what's available online for understanding jazz. I so appreciate the pace of Abraham's teaching. For me, a classically trained pianist with no jazz training, it's perfectly paced and clear.
Thank you.
I've been looking for lessons on how to play by ear, 'comp' or just freestyle on the piano. And this is provides excellent methods for getting comfortable with the piano
I recently found this podcast and wanted to say that the lessons Paul presents are really Jazz theory lessons. They are presented in such a way that I as a durmmer am learning Jazz theory and to play and understand jazz chord progressions on the piano. Thank you Paul!
No reviews for this for a while! Learning music theory in an audio only format is challenging but this podcast does a brilliant job. Just wanted to let you know that it’s still helping people nearly 10 years later!
Maybe the best music instruction I have come across on the internet. Paul's voice is very pleasant to listen to, the instruction is well paced, I even listen to them when not at the piano sometimes. And I love the amount of time each podcast is and they are also commercial free, unlike others.
I'm very grateful to have stumbled upon this podcast, I am learning many new things that are helping me on the road to success. Thank you so very much, Paul!
