  • Spotty content

These men are solid faithful preachers of God’s Word. But this podcast seems to be an outlet to indulge their silly side. The first 5-7 minutes of each episode are mostly inside baseball and irreverent banter. Regrettably, this sort of content is scattered through out as well. That makes it very difficult to actually turn to and consider the doctrines of our faith. A rather disappointing experience since this is the only podcast (so far) on the Westminster Larger Catechism.

This is a theologically solid discussion of the questions in the WLC. These guys are clearly friends, and the banter is entertaining. I appreciate the sound doctrine and collegial conversation.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

WLC Question #160
Q: What is required of those that hear the word preached?
It requires active engagement: attend with diligence, preparation, and prayer; examine what is heard by the scriptures; receive it with faith, love, meekness, and readiness of mind; confer and meditate on it; hide it in the heart; and bear fruit in life.
Special Episode: Mission and Ministry in Scotland // Interview with Iver Martin
Q: What is the cultural driving factor that has led to the steep decline in Scotland?
The Enlightenment changed societal attitudes and the shift from a gospel-centered view to a liberal approach in the Church of Scotland.
Special Episode: Mission and Ministry in Scotland // Interview with Iver Martin
Q: What advice would you give for the young man thinking about ministry and theological education?
Ask God what He would have you do with your life and include yourself in the prayer for workers in the harvest.
WLC Question #60
Q: Does this mean that Jesus will not return to call his people unto himself until every single people group or every single nation has heard the gospel?
There are differing views on this, but the Lord Jesus will not return until every last one of his elect has been called and drawn in, but it's unclear if every single people group will hear the gospel before that time.
WLC Questions #57-59
Q: Who are made partakers of redemption through Christ?
Redemption is applied and communicated to all those for whom Christ hath purchased it, enabled by the Holy Spirit.
