  • Superb podcast

I’ve been listening RF for almost 10 years. It’s one of few Podcasts that cover a wide range of topics in an in-depth manner while staying true to the Reformed heritage we all so love. You will not be disappointed

  • Absolutely life-giving

If you give this podcast a chance, you will find that the theological perspective presented here is one which starts and ends with Christ as He is revealed in the entire text of Scripture, in all of its beautiful context - as you allow it to draw you out of yourself and into scripture, you will invariably find that a new life in Christ is invariably on offer. After all, the Bible is the very words of the living God!

  • Book of Daniel

I've enjoyed the book of Daniel study very much. My wife and I have been reforming over the last several years and at the end of 2022, we left the SBC for the PCA. I've been listening to RF for the last couple years and have learned a lot. Thanks

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Recovering John L. Girardeau: A Giant of Southern Presbyterianism
Q: How did you first come to understand Girardeau, and what drew you to studying him?
I encountered Girardeau through archival work that connected him to adoption and covenant theology, and a chance conversation with mentors highlighted his broader influence on both theology and church practice, which motivated a deeper biographical study.
Irenaeus of Lyons
Q: What can modern readers learn from Irenaeus' approach to biblical interpretation and doctrinal development?
Presley argues that Irenaeus grounds theology in Scripture, emphasizes the unity of faith with the apostolic testimony, and models a method that reads early church sources in light of later doctrinal developments without losing attachment to the biblical data.
Irenaeus of Lyons
Q: How does Irenaeus' idea of recapitulation affect our understanding of Christ and creation?
Presley notes that recapitulation presents Christ as the apex and head of all things, subsuming creation into him and providing a framework to address both philosophical cycles and Gnostic denials, while anchoring redemption in the Christ event.
Irenaeus of Lyons
Q: What does the Rule of Faith mean in Irenaeus' context, and how does it relate to scripture?
Presley explains that the Rule of Faith functions as a basic confession derived from Scripture, guiding how Christians interpret and relate to both Old and New Testaments, with scripture always remaining the data and authority that shapes doctrine.
Cornelius Van Til’s Letters from America
Q: How do these letters help modern readers understand unity and confessional fidelity in today's context?
The hosts discuss that the letters advocate preserving doctrinal boundaries while pursuing real unity through confessional standards, illustrating a balance between ecumenical fellowship and fidelity to Scripture as the North Star.
