本集是1920年到1922年圍繞在愛因斯坦與尼爾斯波耳周遭的篇章，愛因斯坦發表了廣義相對論，對於他的人生產生巨大的影響，而在愛因斯坦的促成下，馬克斯普朗克邀請尼爾斯波耳拜訪柏林，兩位同個世代的學者開始激盪出相當緊密的火花。

畫面再次回到愛因斯坦，來到布拉格任職的愛因斯坦，在因緣際會再次回到德國，成為柏林大學剛成立的理論物理研究所主任，而此時正值1914年﹐由德意志帝國霍亨索倫王朝所發動的第一次世界大戰就此登場，這也讓愛因斯坦把精神投入到整合狹義相對論與牛頓力學的綜合體「廣義相對論」的「重力方程式」。

看到標題可能會嚇到，想說主角怎麼換人當了。
主要是，這集如果我們沒有先來講解拉塞福的故事背景，大概就很難接續尼爾斯波耳的原子模型三部曲，於是本集會先進到拉塞福的故事。
至於拉塞福究竟是何等人物，他可是人類史上首先提出「衰變」，並且解釋α與β射線的人物，這項結果讓他獲得了1908年的諾貝爾物理獎。
