  • Too much religion

This guy has plenty of intelligent things to say but he’s such a religious zealot that it doesn’t take long for him to become tiresome. Plus he’s a big cheerleader for the intellectual fraudster Eric Weinstein and that should be enough reason for anyone to turn him off.

  • Physicist-Human

Think like a physicist and wonder like a human…and always talk to people who have different view points. His podcasts are always at least interesting and at most deeply game changing.

  • Is the show about science?

Because it seems to be more about politics and religion than actual astronomy. Also the last episode crying about Joe Rogan not believing in the moon landing made me start actually doubting NASA which is ironic since that was the opposite of what Keating intended.

  • So this guy just critiqued another guy and his argument was that some kinds of slavery are fine. Or perhaps he's referring to indentured servitude. Either way I'm not sure I would release a podcast explaining that is how you feel- you might want to keep that shit to yourself. If he has someone who cleans his house or a nanny or something, i hope they hear this podcast. His pompous delivery should suffice to let us know he thinks himself superior, no need to illustrate this by defending servitude... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Fermilab’s Scott Dodelson on Cosmology’s Crisis
Q: What is the Dodelson-Widrow mechanism?
A historical mechanism proposing sterile neutrinos as a dark matter candidate via early-universe oscillations, discussed as a potential path to producing the right abundance of sterile neutrinos without conflicting with known physics.
Fermilab’s Scott Dodelson on Cosmology’s Crisis
Q: What is new in the field of dark energy?
The discussion highlights ongoing tensions and tests of the standard model, with emphasis on how data from DES and CMB measurements are probing the Lambda-CDM framework and what might indicate room for revision or a new paradigm.
We Built Something We Can’t Control | A Warning from Top AI Safety Expert
Q: Why is controllability considered a misleading framing, and what should we focus on instead when thinking about alignment?
Controllability implies twisting a machine to satisfy a fixed objective; the better approach is to build systems that actually care about human flourishing, with incentives and architectures that align with humane goals rather than trying to force obedience through constraints.
We Built Something We Can’t Control | A Warning from Top AI Safety Expert
Q: What was the origin of the book's provocative subtitle and cover art, and what message did you want to send with it?
The subtitle Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All was chosen to clearly indicate avoidable risk and to underscore that the danger is not inevitability but a track that can be changed; the cover and wording were debated, but the aim was to convey urgency without hedging.
Dead Cows, Aliens, & Ghosts: How Kevin Knuth Connects Them All
Q: Are you comfortable with saying, I'm a physicist and I saw a ghost?
The guest responds by saying he cannot claim to have seen a ghost because he doesn't know what a ghost is, emphasizing caution and scientific restraint.
