  • Zoe Lyons episode

Raw, honest, funny and relatable- this was a brilliant episode. Zoe was so open about her experience but seeing the funny side is part of the menopause journey. It’s not always funny of course but recognising when we can allow ourselves to feel a little lighter about our experience may be helpful.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Diagnosed At 34: Dani Harmer Holds Nothing Back About Early Menopause (Tracy Beaker)
Q: Are you happy for me to run through listener questions?
Dani agrees and proceeds to address concerns about isolation, community, and resources for younger women facing perimenopause and POI, including practical tips and supportive networks.
Rewind Time: Breaking Menopause Taboos In The South Asian Community
Q: You've mentioned a few times about how South Asian culture makes menopause a taboo topic. Can you expand on how South Asian women experience menopause differently?
Lavina explains that the taboo has historically silenced conversations, but public sharing has started to change minds. She notes more people approaching her after talks and live discussions, indicating a shift toward openness and greater acceptance that menopause is a normal part of life.
Endometriosis, Fibroids & HRT: What You Need To Know
Q: Is it safe to use HRT if you have endometriosis or fibroids, and what monitoring is needed?
Yes, it can be safe, but it requires cautious dosing, regular monitoring for changes in fibroid size or endometriosis symptoms, and collaboration with specialists to adjust estrogen and progesterone levels as needed to prevent flare-ups.
Endometriosis, Fibroids & HRT: What You Need To Know
Q: What role does Mirena play in managing endometriosis and fibroids during menopause?
Mirena provides continuous, local progesterone which helps keep the womb lining thin, reduces heavy bleeding, and can be used as part of HRT to prevent endometrial thickening; it's particularly helpful because it limits systemic estrogen exposure while protecting endometrial tissue.
Endometriosis, Fibroids & HRT: What You Need To Know
Q: How would you approach prescribing HRT to someone with endometriosis or fibroids?
I start by establishing whether the patient is perimenopausal or postmenopausal, then choose a regimen that mimics natural hormonal patterns while avoiding rounding to a point that would flare endometrial tissue; often continuous estrogen with a carefully chosen progesterone, or using Mirena as the progesterone source, helps balance symptoms and reduce bleeding.
