  • Too many ads!

Why so many ads?! Still like the show and content, but when you headline stiff person syndrome I expect to hear something a little more in depth besides that it’s a rare disease.

Stop with the teaser headlines please.

  • Going down the hill

This was once a show that was more real info with some science backing, Now off the rails And fringe Too bad. This episode on neurodegenerative toxins is sooo weak; she is just reading some statements but really offering nothing to substantiate. It is really in the end telling us nothing of value…the show also just pushes its own supplements

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

ENCORE: Q&A with Leyla, Part 2: Continuous Blood Pressure Monitors
Q: Can you confirm how to space out calcium and magnesium for absorption and what the best times are to take certain supplements?
Calcium and magnesium can interfere modestly with absorption, but the impact is usually small enough that most people can still benefit; in practice, spacing them to separate meals or taking them at different times of day can help, but the overall routine should prioritize consistency and personal tolerance.
ENCORE: The Food-Mood Connection: Optimizing Mental Health Through Nutrition, Part 1
Q: Why is insulin resistance in the brain such a concern for long-term cognition?
Insulin resistance in the brain impairs glucose utilization, which over decades can contribute to cognitive decline and diseases like Alzheimer's, making metabolic health essential for brain function.
ENCORE: The Food-Mood Connection: Optimizing Mental Health Through Nutrition, Part 1
Q: How does this translate into practical terms for everyday foods?
In practical terms, people can shift toward lower-carb choices, favor whole foods, and reduce refined carbohydrates, using fruits and vegetables as primary carbohydrate sources while limiting breads, cereals, and sugary foods.
ENCORE: The Food-Mood Connection: Optimizing Mental Health Through Nutrition, Part 1
Q: What's happening mechanistically when you reduce carbohydrate intake so drastically?
Lowering carbohydrate intake dramatically reduces insulin, switches the brain to use ketones for energy, and helps restore energy production in the brain, reducing inflammation and supporting brain metabolism.
ENCORE: Q&A with Leyla, Part 1: Avoiding Microplastics
Q: What do you think of continuous blood pressure monitors?
The hosts tease that they will discuss it in Part Two, signaling ongoing interest in monitoring technologies and their practicality for patients.
