  • Too many ads!

Why so many ads?! Still like the show and content, but when you headline stiff person syndrome I expect to hear something a little more in depth besides that it’s a rare disease.

Stop with the teaser headlines please.

  • Going down the hill

This was once a show that was more real info with some science backing, Now off the rails And fringe Too bad. This episode on neurodegenerative toxins is sooo weak; she is just reading some statements but really offering nothing to substantiate. It is really in the end telling us nothing of value…the show also just pushes its own supplements

I've been listening to Dr. Hoffman for decades because he is a trusted source for both conventional and complimentary medicine. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Revitalizing Energy with Membrane Lipid Replacement, Part 1
Q: So what is NTFactor actually?
NTFactor are membrane phospholipids designed to resemble the lipid composition of human membranes, particularly enriched for mitochondrial membranes, protected by plant-derived fructooligosaccharides to prevent oxidative and enzymatic damage, improving delivery and functionality within cells.
Intelligent Medicine Radio for June 6, Part 1: Motorized e-scooter use needs to be regulated NOW!
Q: What is true about the conflicting views on saturated fat and insulin resistance, and how should one approach it?
The host explains that results are mixed and depend on multiple factors like the type of fat, overall diet, activity level, and individual metabolism; thus, there is no one-size-fits-all rule and observational studies show associations but not causation.
Q&A with Leyla, Part 1: Deprescribing
Q: What is deprescribing and why should it be considered as patients age?
Deprescribing is the deliberate process of reducing or stopping medications when they are no longer necessary or when their risks outweigh benefits, especially as patients' physiology changes with age; it involves careful evaluation and gradual tapering under medical supervision to avoid withdrawal or adverse effects.
Q&A with Leyla, Part 2: In-Door Stair Climbing
Q: Mary writes, I had to get a recent X-ray and I read that the FDA no longer requires a radiation shield for reproductive organs during diagnosis. What are your thoughts?
The discussion explains that newer X-ray tech and shielding practices have evolved; modern imaging uses more focused X-rays with less scatter, but there are still cautions about cumulative exposure and differences between standard X-ray and CT, with emphasis on understanding when shielding is or isn't necessary and the relative risk compared to lifetime exposure.
Q&A with Leyla, Part 2: In-Door Stair Climbing
Q: Okay, this comes from Rick. Rick writes, during bad weather, instead of going for an evening walk, I started climbing the 19 steps from the lobby to the second landing. I do it 12 times up and down. Two or three sets a night, even now. Do you think this is worthwhile?
The hosts affirm that walking upstairs is a very good exercise that raises the heart rate and benefits the glutes; they discuss it as a form of “supercharged” walking and emphasize balancing intensity with safety, suggesting it's a worthwhile activity when done thoughtfully and not at the expense of other forms of exercise or injury risk.
