Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

236. Alison McPherson | From Winning a Trail 50K to Running Sub-3 at Boston – All In One Month
Q: What advice would you give to runners who might be inspired by your story, but unsure if they can balance two big races like that?
It's definitely possible to balance different types of races, and they can complement each other well. Embrace the challenges of both to create a wider base of strong fitness.
236. Alison McPherson | From Winning a Trail 50K to Running Sub-3 at Boston – All In One Month
Q: How did you navigate the recovery from your 50K and what your training looked like between those two very different events?
I was training for both the 50K and the Boston Marathon, knowing I might have to adjust my expectations. I took only one day off after the 50K, started easy runs quickly, and managed to incorporate workouts before tapering for Boston.
189. Gina Tranquada | 50km Trail & Road Team Canada Athlete
Q: What was it like to transition between training for road and trail races?
I feel like my body is okay still on the road, but trail is harder to recover from.
208. Natasha Wodak | All Set to Race the Toronto Waterfront Marathon + Answering Listener Questions
Q: Does that worry you at all?
If you have your own pace group and you know what the Pacers are trying to run, I don't need to think. I just trust them.
208. Natasha Wodak | All Set to Race the Toronto Waterfront Marathon + Answering Listener Questions
Q: What are some of the marathon pace workouts that you do?
Trent likes to mix it up. Like I never know what I'm going to get.
