  • First time listener really struggling with lack of editing

Wa enjoying the content and felt like MaryAnn might be just the right fit for what I was looking for but hearing unedited episodes made my brain hurt and caused me to feel annoyed. By unedited I meaning posting the uncut retakes repeating the same sentence after a mistake over and over. I wish them all the best and understand we are all a work in progress. Hope to return to find this again once some more work into production has happened.

  • To the point applications

MaryAnn shares empathetic, understanding, spot-on insights + strategies that help me manage my anxiety. Sometimes I get hung up on a diagnosis and look to understand it the best I can, not realizing that what I usually need are techniques and reframing to help handle my symptoms. Maryann does an amazing job of creating a space that does exactly that. Thank you! :)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

215: Tapping Out of People Pleasing with Matt Lengauer
Q: Now, before we dive in, can you tell us a little bit about your story?
Matt shares growing up as a people pleaser, his journey through energy healing and EFT tapping, and how he reprogrammed limiting beliefs about worth and lovability to become a coach helping others heal.
195: Boundary Setting for Highly Sensitive People with Boundary Coach, Kami Orange
Q: Can you share what inspired you to write your book, 'Say the Thing', and how has clear communication shifted your life?
I found a gap in boundary education literature focusing too much on the importance of boundaries without offering practical phrases for real-life situations. Over time, I realized people needed scripts that would help them in various contexts.
189: Scapegoat vs Golden Child: How Family Role Shape Identity and People Pleasing With Elle Boone
Q: How do the roles of golden child and scapegoat switch within family dynamics?
The golden child is usually more compliant and aligned with the narcissistic adult, but if the scapegoat does something noteworthy, they can temporarily switch roles; however, typically, the scapegoat experiences lengthy periods of blame and rejection, while the golden child enjoys preferential treatment.
189: Scapegoat vs Golden Child: How Family Role Shape Identity and People Pleasing With Elle Boone
Q: What are some of the signs and symptoms of being scapegoated?
A scapegoat often experiences being blamed for everything, their successes are minimized, and they may face silent treatment or gaslighting from family members.
189: Scapegoat vs Golden Child: How Family Role Shape Identity and People Pleasing With Elle Boone
Q: Can you tell us a bit about what the scapegoat role looks like in a family dynamic?
The scapegoat role is assigned to a child within a dysfunctional family, where that individual carries the blame and shame of the family for both current and past generations.
