  • Too many adds

So disappointed that a 24 minute podcast has such a high proportion of ads - ruins the handsfree experience and makes it unlistenable for me, disappointed as right up my street otherwise. Also, no follow up questions to answers, just passed over.

  • Great new show

I like how these business monoliths instantly seem more human when they talk with Francine about how they lead people, rather than how they make money. Looking forward to more episodes👏

  • A honest take on leadership

Loved the honest and candid approach to leadership. Refreshing to hear a leader - whose ego seems in check - talk about empowering people and offering thoughtful feedback to her team. Rare and inspiring!

Blackstone's Jon Gray on Building a $1.3 Trillion Wall Street Giant
Q: BeCredit has been a high-profile initiative. How difficult was it to convince employees to put money in it and align their interests with clients?
It's part of Blackstone's culture to align incentives with clients by having insiders invest their own money. It required clear communication about the rationale and the potential alignment benefits, but it became a powerful signal that the firm and its people stood behind their investments.
Blackstone's Jon Gray on Building a $1.3 Trillion Wall Street Giant
Q: Tell me a Jon Gray day. What does a typical day look like for you and how do you manage so much?
I start early, catch up on world events, attend back-to-back meetings, and lead with a 24-7 mindset. I aim to stay in balance by focusing on priorities, ensuring open communication, and embracing the reality that investing is betting on the future with a strong team of people around me.
Blackstone's Jon Gray on Building a $1.3 Trillion Wall Street Giant
Q: You're known as the Hilton Deal Guy, right? 20 years ago, you took this massive bet on Hilton. You paid $26 billion for it at Blackstone, with $20 billion debt. What were you thinking?
I wasn't as wise back then. We believed in the core strength of great real estate and operating businesses at reasonable prices, but the timing and leverage were aggressive. We weathered the storm by staying focused on the long-term value of the assets and keeping a day-to-day discipline despite daunting headwinds.
Emma Grede on the Kardashians and Why Work From Home Is ‘Career Suicide'
Q: How do you describe radical honesty in your management style?
Radical honesty means being straightforward with employees about expectations and feedback, maintaining consistency, and avoiding long, vague assessments; it's about moving learning forward and staying aligned with priorities.
Emma Grede on the Kardashians and Why Work From Home Is ‘Career Suicide'
Q: What was your approach to handling the initial surge in demand and inventory for Good American?
Grede explains she respected the teams around her, leaned on experienced colleagues, and focused on getting information quickly, while accepting that supply and data were evolving as the brand scaled.
