  • Disappointed Again

Mario Parker provided broad opinion on the affordability question without any information. So affordability is made up of costs, wages, and direction and rates of change. The rates of change of costs have decreased. This is seen in lower rents, lower commodities. The rate of change in wages have evened. The issue is interest rates impacts on mortgages and on higher unemployment rates. Those are federal reserve issues which we expect to lower at some point when the fed catches up. • Here’s why wind energy

Ok tell me why wind can’t be sustained by the market price of energy? If it can then it will be built, I assume they only exist because of the government subsidies.

It was said when they get up and running the “can give you free power” - I think that is likely an uninformed opinion. Do some homework Rachael, come with numbers. Learn about the maintenance and cradle to grave co2 for coal, oil, gas, wind, solar - then you’ll be ready for an interview.

  • Sponsor ad comment

Really enjoy listening to your podcast over the last several years thank you. Some feedback about the PG&E ads where it claims PG&E is listening to its customers and has some guy saying “it’s fair” is a a bit galling and maybe reflect on your show or shows that you’re using it in. Just thought I would chime in and never comment on things but I imagine I’m not alone and thinking it’s sort of important taste. And like I said galling is the best word I could think to describe it.

  • 2 mins of ads for 6 mins of mid content

Just another money-making scheme to cram more ads into an already redundant podcast that’s covered by other Bloomberg shows.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Here's Why a Weak Yen Isn't Just Japan's Problem
Q: What does the intervention mean for Japan's economy and for U.S. interests?
The move helps stabilize financial conditions and protect the U.S. Treasury market by reducing the risk of a disorderly yen sell-off; it also signals a commitment to allied economic stability, though longer-term effects depend on whether the yen can be sustained at firmer levels.
Here's Why a Weak Yen Isn't Just Japan's Problem
Q: Why has the yen been so weakened in recent years?
A combination of persistent rate differentials, where Japan's rates are lower than others, and a carry trade that borrows yen to invest in higher-yield assets abroad, plus concerns about Japan's debt and energy costs, have kept downward pressure on the yen.
Here's Why The Fed Is Saying Less
Q: What is the general approach central bankers take when it comes to talking about policy decisions, and how has it evolved?
The host asks about the shift from a long history of limited commentary to more frequent communications, and how forward guidance has become a tool, with the discussion noting concerns about overcommunication and the push to simplify messaging.
Here's Why Heatwaves Spell Trouble for Power Networks
Q: Is this actually a good period for renewables, like solar, given the heat and wind patterns?
Solar tends to peak in milder temperatures with good sun, but extremely hot periods reduce efficiency and low wind reduces overall renewables output, necessitating gas or other sources to fill gaps.
Here's Why Heatwaves Spell Trouble for Power Networks
Q: What impact do high temperatures have on the grid itself, especially the transmission lines and reactor cooling?
Grid lines can sag at high temperatures, limiting how much power can be transmitted, and reactors must be cooled; when rivers warm, refueling output can be lowered, stressing supply.
