  • Very intriguing Conversations

Although I am not a HR professional, I believe this podcast has given me a lot of insight into the world of Human Resources, specifically Data and diversity, and I value the many conversations David has had with the excellent guests on the show. He asks very interesting questions that bring about intriguing conversations and I would be a liar if I said this podcast did not help me with my Human Resource Management Certificate. Great show!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Usman "Oz" Khan - Unlocking the Future of HR Tech with AI, Innovation, and Trust
Q: How do founders and investors balance creativity and flexibility in AI HR solutions without creating chaos in the box of features?
They need to design core capabilities that work for a broad base of early adopters, while planning for edge cases and scalability, and they must prepare for long, complex enterprise sales cycles with robust integration and governance.
Usman "Oz" Khan - Unlocking the Future of HR Tech with AI, Innovation, and Trust
Q: So Oz, let's zoom out and talk about what's actually changing in HR tech now.
We're seeing AI shift from providing assistance to actually carrying out workflows, with a focus on automating end-to-end processes and redesigning how work gets done in payroll, workforce planning, and compliance.
Dara Brenner - Trust in the Age of AI: Tackling Candidate Fraud While Preparing for Next-Gen Hiring
Q: Where does AI governance go in the next generation of hiring, and where should organizations invest?
AI governance will be embedded from the ground up in new, AI-native hiring platforms, with continuous auditing and transparency. Organizations should invest in governance, bias monitoring, and proactive workforce planning to stay ahead of compliance and talent needs.
Steven Rothberg - The Evolution of Recruitment Metrics & The Future of AI in HR
Q: How has cost-per-click evolved and why did some employers resist moving to CPQA or CPA models?
Cost-per-click started as a way to charge for visibility and intent, but many employers found it confusing and inconsistent across platforms; moving toward CPQA or qualified-applicant metrics promised better alignment but created complexity because definitions of “qualified” vary across teams and over time, making benchmark and ROI calculations challenging.
Steven Rothberg - The Evolution of Recruitment Metrics & The Future of AI in HR
Q: What was the old model for employer advertising and why did it exist?
The old model was traditional duration-based pricing where employers paid a fixed amount for a posting for a certain number of days, which sometimes yielded good hires but often wasted money when postings didn't perform well; the shift to pay-for-performance models emerged as a way to align vendor incentives with hiring outcomes.
