I’m Amanda, a nutritional therapist with over 14 years of experience, and the author of Feel Good for Menopause. I spend much of my work supporting women over 40, 50, and 60 as they navigate the changes that come with this stage of life.

So much shifts in our second half of life, yet many women don’t receive the information they need to age with strength, confidence, and optimism.

  • Another fascinating podcast from Amanda!

Since hitting my midlife years I have really struggled with metabolising any amount of alcohol. Even one glass of wine can disrupt my sleep and make me feel so sluggish and nervy the next day. Q: How does the FODMAP approach work in practice for IBS management?
The FODMAP diet is a short-term elimination to identify personal triggers, followed by a careful reintroduction to test tolerance; not a lifelong restriction, and individual responses vary, with many people uncovering tolerances to foods they previously avoided.

Common symptoms include bloating and gas with either constipation or diarrhea, accompanied by abdominal pain that can relate to toilet use, and a general sense that foods upset the stomach; many patients experience overlapping patterns across IBS subtypes.
035 IBS, Constipation & Gut Health: Practical Strategies That Actually Work with Anna Mapson
Q: What is IBS and how is it differentiated from other gut issues like constipation or gas?
IBS is a disorder of the gut-brain connection with varied presentations; diagnosis relies on Rome IV criteria, focusing on recurrent abdominal pain with altered bowel habits and symptom duration, while doctors use it to categorize but treatment often overlaps with functional constipation.
