  • Outdated

The Episode in 2024 with Dr Alison Bested, the same old GET (Graded Exercise Therapy) being dressed up in new clothes. “Just five minutes to build muscle, to build mitochondria…” sounds gentle at first, but the underlying message is the same harmful one: push through, build tolerance, and you’ll get better.

The reality? People with ME/CFS don’t respond to exercise like healthy bodies do. In a healthy body, exertion leads to repair and growth. In a person with ME/CFS, it leads to post-exertional... more

  • Disappointing

As somebody with ME for 26 years, I find this podcast a waste of an important conversation idea. I don’t need the host to constantly tell me how brilliant her guests are. Her ideas on diet sound dated. Every person healing these days is typically doing keto or carnivore. I keep trying new episodes hoping there’s real new info but it’s never the case. A beginner’s guide to basics is worth doing for new people to the illness - like how to find and deal with the medical system and if it’s even wo... more

  • Two critiques

    1. The host shouldn’t interrupt as much. I have ME/CFS; I’m already exhausted. I don’t need a podcast host’s frenetic interruptions to make me feel even more exhausted. It’s gotten to where I can’t listen to this podcast during my really bad relapses.

    2. The conversation needs to stay on topic. The latest episode about the interplay between the immune system and the nervous system hardly contains any info about the stated topic.

  • Truly a Hope Lifeline

This podcast and all the wonderful doctors who have been interviewed have been a game changer for my sense of hope. The validation, the perspectives/framing, the work being done—all patient focused—are transformative.

I appreciate the knowledge that the host brings to the table. I just wish she would interrupt less and allow the experts to talk more.
