Thank you so much, Linda, and the entire podcast team. I dip in and out of the Bendy Bodies Podcast series, and so much of the content resonates deeply with me. The podcasts have not only helped me feel less alone, but have also significantly improved my understanding of how to better manage my hEDS and associated conditions, as well as navigate and access the healthcare support I need.

  • Huge Help

I’ve felt like a medical mystery for decades as I’ve had test after test and seen specialist after specialist. Then I was diagnosed with CRPS in 2017 and most doctors I see blame CRPS for anything they can’t explain. My GP has always had my back, and we’ve gone through it all together. Then recently she told me she’d been listening to this podcast, Bendy Bodies, and that I was the first person she thought of. She thinks I have EDS, MCAS, & POTS. Listening to your podcasts and your guests (like D... more

  • LOVE

I have felt very alone on my health journey, as I live in an area where no one really even wants to recognize hEDS, POTS, MALS or MCAST ( I also have FMD) I have nearly lost my life twice to ruptured aneurysm, spontaneous subdural Bleed and now living with pretty sure MCAST of which I feel so pushed aside because none of my Drs want to even recognize it is a thing. ….. Thank you so so so so much for all of your information. It is encouraging to know someone hears me, and so many like me.

Fatigue, Pain, Poor Sleep? It Could Be Vitamin D. | Dr. Gregory Plotnikoff & Dr. Dacre Knight (Ep. 199)
Q: What should be the goal for vitamin D levels in adults with musculoskeletal concerns?
While goals can vary, the panel suggests aiming for levels above 30 ng/mL generally, with some data indicating 40-60 ng/mL may be ideal for certain populations; subpopulation differences may apply but data is limited.
Fatigue, Pain, Poor Sleep? It Could Be Vitamin D. | Dr. Gregory Plotnikoff & Dr. Dacre Knight (Ep. 199)
Q: What is vitamin D and why is it considered a hormone rather than a vitamin?
Vitamin D behaves like a hormone because it regulates gene expression and influences thousands of genes, affecting mood, energy, sleep, bone health, and more, rather than acting merely as a vitamin cofactor.
Too Flexible to Fix? Orthopedic Surgery and Hypermobility with Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein (Ep 196)
Q: What should patients ask surgeons if they suspect hypermobility affects surgical outcomes?
Ask how the surgeon would alter their technique for hypermobility, whether they've treated many patients with joint laxity, and what non-surgical options have been tried before proceeding to surgery.
Too Flexible to Fix? Orthopedic Surgery and Hypermobility with Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein (Ep 196)
Q: When is imaging helpful in evaluating hypermobile joints vs when is it not?
Imaging helps identify structural contributors like capsular volume, labral tears, cartilage damage, or bony shapes that contribute to instability. It's less helpful for dynamic instability that's not tied to a clear anatomic abnormality.
Too Flexible to Fix? Orthopedic Surgery and Hypermobility with Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein (Ep 196)
Q: Can you define instability, laxity, and hypermobility for listeners who might feel confused by the terms?
Instability refers to joints that move in ways that aren't controlled by the surrounding structures, laxity is the looseness in the joint capsule or ligaments, and hypermobility is a general heightened range of motion. The key is how well a person can control those movements in daily life.
