  • Huge Help

I’ve felt like a medical mystery for decades as I’ve had test after test and seen specialist after specialist. Then I was diagnosed with CRPS in 2017 and most doctors I see blame CRPS for anything they can’t explain. My GP has always had my back, and we’ve gone through it all together. Then recently she told me she’d been listening to this podcast, Bendy Bodies, and that I was the first person she thought of. She thinks I have EDS, MCAS, & POTS. Listening to your podcasts and your guests (like D... more

  • LOVE

I have felt very alone on my health journey, as I live in an area where no one really even wants to recognize hEDS, POTS, MALS or MCAST ( I also have FMD) I have nearly lost my life twice to ruptured aneurysm, spontaneous subdural Bleed and now living with pretty sure MCAST of which I feel so pushed aside because none of my Drs want to even recognize it is a thing. ….. Thank you so so so so much for all of your information. It is encouraging to know someone hears me, and so many like me.

  • Thank you!

Thank you Dr Bluestein for sharing your wealth of knowledge. After my hEDS diagnosis I found few resources or people talking about what can be done. Hearing you and your guests have made me feel less alone and help me navigate what is going on with my body.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Arachnoiditis: The Severe Pain Condition Doctors Miss with Dr. Forest Tennant (Ep 188)
Q: What are the most common causes and risk factors for adhesive arachnoiditis today?
Past infectious causes like tuberculosis and gonorrhea gave way to newer risks such as the myodil dye; in modern times, surgical interventions, epidural injections, spinal taps, and lower spinal surgeries are key risk factors, with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome enhancing susceptibility.
Arachnoiditis: The Severe Pain Condition Doctors Miss with Dr. Forest Tennant (Ep 188)
Q: Can you explain the difference between intractable pain and chronic pain?
Intractable pain is severe, often with no cure, historically managed with palliative care or end-of-life approaches, and may require opioid-based interventions; chronic pain is a broader category that includes pain with potential for management and improvement using various therapies.
When POTS Isn’t the Whole Story: What Doctors Often Miss | Office Hours (Ep 185)
Q: Rochelle asked about how pernicious anemia interacts with EDS, ME/CFS, and POTS; what should patients monitor regularly?
Monitor symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, neuropathy; pursue extended testing when symptoms persist despite normal initial labs; ongoing monitoring and consultation with a clinician are key, especially if autoimmune conditions are present.
When POTS Isn’t the Whole Story: What Doctors Often Miss | Office Hours (Ep 185)
Q: I was recently diagnosed with pernicious anemia and suspect I may have had it for years without knowing. How should I approach testing when standard B12 labs are normal early on?
Consider tests beyond standard B12, including MMA, homocysteine, intrinsic factor antibodies, and parietal cell antibodies; understand that a normal B12 does not exclude tissue-level deficiency, and look for neurologic symptoms and RDW changes as additional clues.
Why Doctors Miss EDS, POTS, and MCAS with Dr. Dacre Knight (Ep 184)
Q: What are some common misconceptions about the triad of EDS, POTS, and MCAS?
Many clinicians assume these conditions are too disparate to be related, but they are interconnected through the body's connective tissues, affecting multiple systems and symptoms.
