  • The nudge you need

I listen to Samin for about 20 minutes and then I feel a powerful desire to get cooking. It’s powerful stuff. Don’t listen if you are stuck in traffic or on a long train ride, for risk of real frustration and hunger. Though the power lasts for at least a week, I’ve found. Still stirring pots and salting bits of whatever since last episode. Thank you!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sari Not Sorry
Q: When you want something simple, nostalgic and representing your roots and your home, what do you cook?
For Persian cooking, any chicken with saffron and lemon reminds me of home, particularly Jujy Kabab Roast Chicken, and rice is my comfort food.
Annie, Get Your Gunk
Q: Can Ari make chili crisp with dried chili flakes?
Yes, Ari can make chili crisp with dried chili flakes, but he should be aware of the varying levels of spiciness among different chili types.
Annie, Get Your Gunk
Q: What is the laziest way to blanch vegetables?
The easiest way to blanch is to cook the vegetables just until they are nearly tender and then quickly transfer them to a baking sheet to cool off, without the need for an ice bath.
Mayo May Not Delete
Q: What should someone do if their husband has a fear of white condiments and likes chicken salad?
Try using olive oil and vinegar instead of mayonnaise for a flavorful, creamy-like dressing while keeping it visually appealing without the creamy sauces.
Mayo May Not Delete
Q: Can you help with a shoofly pie problem and modernize the recipe?
You could try using a graham cracker crust and updating the topping to a more appealing streusel, or rebrand it as a 'brown sugar pop tart pie' to enhance its sellability.
