I cannot recommend this podcast enough! As someone who moved to Berlin/Germany as an adult, I love getting to hear more in-depth history that I never learned when I was younger. Pip and Jonny make a great show together, bringing in their own perspectives and relating history to today’s world. Absolutely never dry…super interesting and funny (where appropriate)!
I started listening to this podcast in anticipation of an upcoming trip to Berlin and I’m so glad I did. Pip and Jonny are fun and enthusiastic (even when the content veers into darker territory) and make for great hosts. I just finished the first season and I feel like I have a much better sense of the city’s history. There’s a way in which the characters and storylines of each episode - all varied and purposefully eclectic - intersect over time to paint a textured and multi-faceted picture of ... more
I’ve visited Berlin many times but Pip and Jonny bring out things I missed. I’d love to see a programme about 1980s West Berlin Music and the great alternative culture palace that was Tacheles. It’d work as a great resurgence of West Berlin culture. Maybe Spargelfest too!! vielen danke im voraus Pip and Jonny
As an English speaking resident of Berlin I really appreciate this podcast which gives lots of insight into some of the lesser known stories of my adopted city’s history from Tempelhofer Feld to sbahn serial killer to the heroes and villains of this ever evolving place. it’s really brilliant.
After spending several years watching Jonny’s TikTok’s and being surprised to learn that he is in fact British, I decided to give the podcast a go. It obviously wouldn’t have mattered as the content of his online mini tours of Berlin have been fascinating and engaging. The podcast is an extension of that. The rapport between Pip and Jonny is evident and their knowledge is endless. I have never been to Berlin but I am an armchair historian. Love the detail and I’ve learned so much from listening.... more
