I love Angela’s content and guests - a wide range of information you can pick and choose from, depending on what you are interested in. Easy to understand content, science backed and not super long episodes, which can be so off-putting. Thanks Angela!

  • Phenomenal, but need more!

The show is amazing. I love it. I just wish they’d publish more. I need my health fix more times each week. It was great when Angela used to publish three times a week. I could rely on it to pick me up during my lulls in energy. But I’ll take what I can. Superb show

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Your Gut Is the Missing Link in Perimenopause | Cynthia Thurlow
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to start optimizing their gut health during perimenopause?
Begin with four to five deep breaths at meals to improve vagal tone, prioritize fiber-rich and nutrient-dense foods, maintain hydration, and limit alcohol and ultra-processed foods. Also consider timing workouts to the cycle and balancing stress management with parasympathetic nervous system training.
Why Eating Tomatoes Shrinks Belly Fat in Perimenopause (The Brown Fat Trigger) | Dr. William Li
Q: What exactly happens when brown fat is activated by these foods?
Activation increases mitochondrial activity, increases energy expenditure, and mobilizes visceral fat stores, potentially reducing waist size and inflammatory markers when done consistently over time.
Why Eating Tomatoes Shrinks Belly Fat in Perimenopause (The Brown Fat Trigger) | Dr. William Li
Q: Why is it important to eat a tomato an hour before lunch in the study you referenced?
The timing was chosen to ensure the tomato's micronutrients are absorbed before the main meal, allowing the bioactives to maximize their effect on brown fat activation and subsequent metabolism.
Perimenopause Doctor: This is how you Fix Belly Fat, Brain Fog and Bloating with Mary Claire Haver, M.D
Q: What role does testosterone play in perimenopause, and is it broadly recommended?
Testosterone can help with energy, motivation, and certain aspects of sexual function, particularly in those with prior higher desire; however, data on mood and sleep are limited and use is tailored, with careful monitoring and consideration of risks.
Perimenopause Doctor: This is how you Fix Belly Fat, Brain Fog and Bloating with Mary Claire Haver, M.D
Q: Can vaginal estrogen be used alongside systemic therapy, and why?
Yes, vaginal estrogen can be used in addition to systemic therapy to protect the vaginal and urinary tract health, as systemic dosing alone often does not fully address local tissue changes post-menopause.
