  • Super knowledgeable and interesting!

I love Angela’s content and guests - a wide range of information you can pick and choose from, depending on what you are interested in. Easy to understand content, science backed and not super long episodes, which can be so off-putting. Thanks Angela!

  • Phenomenal, but need more!

The show is amazing. I love it. I just wish they’d publish more. I need my health fix more times each week. It was great when Angela used to publish three times a week. I could rely on it to pick me up during my lulls in energy. But I’ll take what I can. Superb show

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is Your Brain Fog Really Menopause? Dr. Sarah McKay Explains What the Research Says
Q: What are the main drivers of brain fog during midlife menopause and how do hormones influence this?
Brain fog arises from a combination of thermoregulation, sleep disruption, anxiety, mood changes, and energy metabolism shifts influenced by hormonal changes, especially estrogen, which affects brain energy use and neural signaling. The interaction between sleep disruption and autonomic activation amplifies cognitive symptoms, but the effects vary among individuals and can improve as the brain adapts.
Liz Earle: How to Age Backwards (Light, Water, and Mitochondria for Women in Midlife)
Q: How should we approach indoor lighting to protect mitochondria and overall health?
Indoor LED lighting, especially short-wave blue light, can impair mitochondrial function; using a balance of broad-spectrum lighting and a small amount of incandescent light in the evenings supports mitochondria, along with outdoor daylight when possible.
Liz Earle: How to Age Backwards (Light, Water, and Mitochondria for Women in Midlife)
Q: If we're wearing sunscreen, can we still synthesize vitamin D?
The short answer is no if sunscreen is applied properly and fully, though in practical daily life many people apply it imperfectly, which may allow some UVB through; timing and proper application are critical to balance sun protection with vitamin D synthesis.
Liz Earle: How to Age Backwards (Light, Water, and Mitochondria for Women in Midlife)
Q: What are you doing differently in your 60s that most women miss?
Liz emphasizes understanding biology, mastering circadian rhythm, daylight exposure, and balancing sun use with protection, which she believes fundamentally changes aging trajectories. She cites the importance of protein, resistance training, sleep, and hormone health, but highlights daylight and circadian timing as the dial mover.
The Real Reason Perimenopausal Women Can't Lose Belly Fat (It's Not What You Think)
Q: What are some of the things that listeners to the podcast can start doing to optimize their oestrobolome?
Start with four to five deep breaths at meals to lower stress, prioritize fiber-rich and polyphenol-rich foods, ensure adequate protein, and focus on water intake. These steps support gut health, bile production, and the endogenous GLP-1 signaling system, while reducing inflammation and aiding estrogen clearance.
